I can't decide from all the available cameras, or even to wait a bit.

The three aspects hooking me in are 1) ability to continue to use my Leica M lenses, 2) ability to shoot video and 3) compact size/portability.
My primary need is still image quality, although I'm far from expert or professional.
I could use the video features professionally, but the end result would be headed for the web only.
I have no real budget constraints.
So it's all a bit confusing with so many options out there.
One model that's caught my eye is the Panasonic GF-1.
Audio is a compromise perhaps, but not insurmountable.
I just bought a Lumix DMC FT-1 for 'happy snaps' and primarily for my partner, and I find the screen very hard to use accurately. I guess my eyesight is on the way out!
Maybe i would be better to spend a bit more on the GH-1?
Or is there something even better suited to my needs about to be announced?

It too find have only a fixed rear LCD painfully limiting; too difficult to use in too many situation. Other than the need for video, by interests are similar. As a result, I'll be queuing up for the new G-2 shortly. The eyelevel EVF (EEVF) and positionable rear LCD fit my needs well. For video users, the G-2 has a dedicated microphone jack (2.5mm, stereo) for those that need to get around the limitation of built-in mikes (the G-2's is mono).

Yep, the G2 looks quite decent, although I'd vote for the G10 or EPL-1, as my budget is limited at this point.

Sony will announce the APS-C NEX-3, -5 by tomorrow. Olympus will also announce new PENs in June and Sept.

I'd wait at least until next month, for more choices if nothing else.

I love my G1 to pieces and had similar expectations to yours except that I did not care about video. I would recommend the GH1 since you care. If you want a good electronic viewfinder you might as well have it built in, I say. I think the GF1 is sweet, too, but that's why I don't own one.

On top of the fact that the Panasonic lets you use your Leica lenses it has great lenses of its own, including the Leica 45mm f/2.8 Macro-Elmarit. Very nice.

Go for it.
