I am quite fond taking photos o fmy child as I am talking with her about her life. It can be very interesting to a father and maybe to some other people to see the emotions of a child or children as they relax in front of the photographer and they just behave as kids, which of course is what they are.

Yesterday, I took three rolls of film of my daughter Dana in a time span of maybe 20 minutes. We sat in the front porch of our home in the afternoon, and we chatted about her daycare center. I sneaked in three cameras [my testing never ends: Leica Standard with Elmar 5cm/3.5, Argus C44 with 50/2.8 Cintar, and an obscure Nihon (not Nikon)] and took photos. This event mademethink of writing about series of images.

Yesterday, I got back one previously taken roll of Fuji Color 100 film of Lina and Dana interacting in the front porch. While each photo may be interesting to me, I enjoy looking at a sequence of photos. Another sequence is of Dana looking out of her bedroom window.

Maybe you also could post your favorite sequence of images taken by you of loved ones or of people somewhere. I will do some rescaling of the image files and will post some here.

Sorry for interfering with your post, Raid, I couldn't help it. Just joking around and avoiding a huge amount of work work this weekend.

How do I move/remove this thread? It seems that shooting sequences of photos is not a popular activity here.

Raid,

Thanks for sharing. Essentially my children is the main thing I photograph as well. So I always enjoy looking at your latest. I may not comment all the time but I am looking.

Does a sequence of two count? (Yashica Mat 124g, TMX in Diafine)

Raid, the last picture of Dana by herself is exceptional. In the interaction of Dana and Lina the 4th one is really, really wonderful. Don't think that just because we don't comment that we aren't interested. I, for one, enjoy your pictures of your family AND you are so fortunate to have such cooperative subjects ! 🙂

Please do not seek to close this thread.

I don't have anything to share but this is one of the things
I've been thinking about a lot lately.

Ricardo: This sequence of two photos is very nice and sharp. I like it very much.
I guess, there must be a certain percentage of RFF members with young children still at home. I was just looking forward to seeing other peoples' images.

Hi,
Thanks. By the way, only Dana loves being photographed, whereas Lina is very difficult to keep still even for seconds. I know that there usually are many more people viewing any thread than actually commenting on it.

Hi,

Of course I will not close this thread. Even one person viewing it is enough to make a thread worthwhile. I encourage you to take photos as a sequence. I take the camera slightly off my eye and talk to my kids as I keep on shooting, while talking about things they enjoy. This keeps them preoccupied and natural. On the other hand, with the camera away from my eye, I sometimes get crooked shots or photos with chopped off heads. Still, the important thing to me is the natural setting with the children forgetting that I am taking photos of them.

I loved your photos Raid ... she is a gorgeous child. I never had a daughter (two sons) and looking at these pics reminds me of what I have missed! If a photograph evokes an emotionional response it has succeeded admirably ... thanks for sharing her with us!

Pic no 4 is absolutely delightful!

Cheers ... Keith. 🙂

At the opposite end of the scale ... here is a series I took of my neighbour Helen, who is rather crusty at times and ran out of patience with me after about six shots! Taken with a Fed2 in her living room one Sunday morning over a cup of tea!

🙂 🙂

Raid,

I just fired off about 10 shots of my two kids pilled onto the same chair. Thanks for the inspiration. I have had 10 rolls of Shantou Era film (360 total shots) just sitting in my fridge and I don't know what for? I get so caught up in the equipment obsessions that sometimes I forget I should be shooting.

Anyway once I convinced my two boys to pile into this chair I just keep shooting away with my Canon QL17 GIII. (it makes me miss the viewfinder of my Bessa R I just sold). I think I got ten shots total. I would have kept going but the kids can only stay relatively still for so long at the ages of 4 and 3. Hopefully in a few weeks I will post the results.

Ricardo: I am looking forward to seeing your posting with some of the photos of your kids.

Ok Raid, here is a series inspired by this thread. Its a small miracle to get these two together and I just asked them to show me different faces, sad, angry, happy, and this is what I got. Mostly melancholy but my older boy Alex gave me some fun looks. My younger son Nick just kept giving me sad. I love these! Thanks Raid.

Favorite dog falling asleep in front of the fire. Can't remember why the lighting in the last one looks different.

Leica M3, Summicron 50/2, Fuji Neopan 400 (I think)
