the second would be my favorite, too.. I've taken a dozen or more identical shots.. but mine never seem to turn out as nice

Personally, I'm for 3 and 5. They both suggest a narrative that I am not privy to, which makes me guess, and therefor linger within the image, and forget that I am sitting at a computer.

The Noctilux

Its the latest version. Bought it just 3 weeks ago. At 1st I wasnt so sure about it, but after more use I love it. Expensive, overpriced, but I'm keeping it. I also have a 50 cron I love. Thanks for the comments. A couple more I just scanned...

I saw Tommys galleries and that is what pushed me to get the lens. Great stuff. I myself like what it does with good color film more than B&W. It renders colors like no other lens that I have used can.

From what I have read, the optical qualities of the early version and latest version are the same, just a redesign of the body of the lens/hood. I could be wrong. I saw on on ebay go for $1600 a while back (older version).

Does it matter which version you have or do they all have the same optics, one better than another?
What Steve says, the optics have remained the same since the first version. One difference is that the first version takes 58mm filters and subsequent versions all take 60mm filters.

Steve, what ISO and development details can you include about your carnival shots?
