Carrying a point-n-shoot around the neck

Does anyone do this? I recently got a Ricoh GR and love to use it along side my X100 when going to shoot events and things like that, but it's kind of annoying when I want to switch to my X100 having to put the GR back in my bag or pocket every time. Does anyone have a recommendation of how to carry something like the GR around your neck for quick access?

Get a thin neck strap and wear a pocket tee. when I know I'm going to be shooting and doing a lot of walking, I wear a pocket tee and just slip it in the pocket with the strap around my neck. Not a permanent solution but it helps me.

I'd think active body movements would make a compact handing in front of your chest start flying around. That's why I won't put a regular camera with a neckstrap around my neck...even while walking at a reasonable pace, it starts bounding on my chest. I wear regular cameras bandalier-style across my chest to keep motion to a minimum.

I'd just throw the GR in a pocket or in the same bag as the X100...do you have cargo pants or cargo shorts?

I actually just realized I could maybe get a Gordy strap with the string attachments and there seems to be two points on my camera to attach the strap and the camera would hang vertically. What do you guys think? Would it be in the way when I go to grab the camera and shoot?

I normally carry my cameras across the chest when I'm moving too. And I have been putting it in the same bag, but it's just a little annoying having to keep putting in and pulling out the GR when I switch cameras. So, I'm just trying to make it a little more quickly accessible.

I'll definitely consider this. Any suggestions of where to pick one up? i don't really know where to shop for lanyards.

One of Gordy's slings works great for me & with additional loops, you can hang other cameras from it. Have 1 sling & 5 hangers & LOVE it!

With my smaller P&Ss. like the GR, I use a little Crumpler pouch that attaches to by left on my hip. Works great, easy and quick to remove.

Short key chain ( 1 inch) and clip it to your belt when not in use.

I have a metal-chain lanyard on a loop appropriate for the GR's "lugs." Hangs below my ribs' intersection. Been using it for the GRD3 and now the GRD4, and it is precisely so I can wrist-strap on a different camera but shift to the GRD easily.

Unless you're a determined strider/hiker/runner, this works fine. Otherwise it makes sense to use a bandolier-length loop to carry it against your side. OTOH I came across my perfect GRD lanyard in a bin of camera junk, though it's quite possible to order different length loops or Gordy's with the tiny GR-lug-appropriate anchor loop.

I used to carry mine in a shirt pocket, but no more. I had a Canon Sure Shot Classic 120 that was a bit iffy when I got it, and by putting it in my t-shirt pocket, I finished it off. It was okay in a jacket pocket, mind you, but one summer day I took it out of my t-shirt pocket, and the back was covered in sweat. Did a number on the electronics, what with all the switches on the back. So I'm very careful where I store my P&S cameras when strapped around my neck.
