I don't mind cars that much, cars are great and old cars are even greater...

I agree! But there is something really weird about the car...like where is the back wheel? And the side panel seems to almost melt into the pavement, as though it's been photoshopped in. Not that it has, it just looks strange...

Somewhere on the internet there's probably a guy complaining on an automotive forum about wanting to drive somewhere but not being able to because there's a big pile of cameras in the way.

I don't mind 'em all the time, but find myself waiting for them to exit the frame that's for sure. One of the things I like best about the M VF is being able to see cars and pedestrians about to enter the frame.

Some cars are cute.

And then there's the people who walk into your shot while you're "zooming with your feet"

Aha, ok! I didn't even know what those were...

My thing about cars is...I really feel they destroyed the American landscape...created the suburbs...dominated cities...cheapened architecture...and wasted natural resources. I would like to live in a world where trains went everywhere, personally, and I could read a book while going to visit family instead of staring blankly ahead for hours. Every time I have to drive one I consider if a personal failure.

That said, they are very telling about the people who own them...and they often fit into the American scene in a visually interesting way. So I understand people's love for them. And if you appreciate good engineering (and most camera nerds do, myself included), you can't not admire some of the ingenuity and creativity that have gone into cars.

There are associations, as well, of time, places and people.

Agreed. I was stationed in Naples, Italy from 1969 to 1973. That was my Fiat or at least one exactly like it. 1969 Fiat 124 Coupe, Periwinkle Blue. I loved driving it around Italy. I had to have the engine rebuilt after three years but I loved it anyway.

The first shot I ADORE....the 2nd car kinda cool....:p best- helen
