I'm really enjoying taking pics with my little Yashica CCN - but the grip is a little awkward in hand.

I was wondering if there was a type of grip that would fit - I love the look/feel of the metal M grips (below):

However, I can't find anything when searching the web - so before I go off and make/modify one - is there a currently existing grip that would fit?

The case is old and a little grotty - also it has a giant plastic nub that sticks out of the bottom (not so nice). I don't mind using the bottom half of the original case - so I guess I might just end up buying a GX/CC/CCN again and swap the case to the one I'm using at the time, unless I spot a Agfa Sillete case.

Suggestions?

They were supposed to be kept by two hands. Grip in picture looks good idea if it would fit CCN.

J-P can you identify the product in your photo?

This is a very tempting idea; I have the same issue as you; grips are a great invention in cameras. How to get one on our older rangefinders?

Third party grips for Leica M and D-Lux in aluminum are modest in price on eBay. I'm tempted to buy one and try to adapt it.

btgc - I'd probably have to take a hacksaw to it and drill a new hole for the tripod screw... thinking about it..

Col. - The grip pictured is an M-Grip by GMP products. I think there may be one or two owned by a few RFF members. GMP is now out of business I think, but http://www.photoequip.net/ are still going and sell similar grips.

I'm tempted at some later date to try to adapt a third party M-fit grip, but I lack the tools/shed to do so... Otherwise I've been contemplating casting one out of resin and modifying an old flash bracket.

Thanks for the info. I just obtained one of the Photo Equip grips which I will try to adapt to one or another of my Yashicas. Wish me luck!

I used to own a grip designed much like the Leica style grips, but the mounting scrrew was mounted mid base. Fit my GSN just fine. Unfortunately I sold it along with a camera body. cannot remeber the make, but got if off the Bay realtively cheap.

I'll keep my eye out :) - good luck Col. ! Let me know how it goes and I might try the same thing - they do look nice.

Just received the grip. The good news is that the base of the grip is a perfect fit on the GX body. If I can move the attachment screw, this will be just right. Same should apply for any Leica M grip.

Just to be clear, I will have to file the alignment ridge under the lens and also move the attachment screw. None of these grips will fit Yashica cameras directly.

Also, the OP showed a grip by GMP Products. That company became Photo Equip, and my grip is the same as the GMP, just in black. Very nice product. Will post more when I've got it set up.

For the OP, interested in fitting this grip to a CCN: The two alignment ridges on the base of the grip leave 32.5mm clear for the base of the body. My GX base is 31.5mm front to back and fits fine. The base of my Nikon F2 is even better fit for this grip; it's 32mm front to back.

Sejanus - wow, for that price I may as well pick one up as a spare / experiment - thanks!

Also - Thanks Col. I'll order one and get my rotary file ready! The CCN dimensions seem to be almost identical. Great stuff - I think I may have to postpone until next month though... I've been spending far too much on camera's this month!
