Cc Problem

I have a near mint CC.
All the lights work - battery test, arrows in the finder, but the camera seems to be locked at one speed, approx 1/60th to the ear.

I get the clunk on wind-on and have changed batteries.

Can anyone suggest what may be the problem?

It could be that the flash sync wire is grounded out, causing the shutter to trip at flash sync speed, or the shutter release mechanism is sticking (usually the linkage by the electro magnet).

You can check the flash sync wire by taking the top cover off. Sometimes people remove the top cover to clean the RF glass, and then the wire gets pinched on reassembly. If you don't plan to use a flash with the camera, simply cut the wire (it's the green one). If it's the shutter linkage sticking, you need to get into the lens housing and add a small drop of lubricant to the release linkage. You'll need a lens spanner, and a couple small screwdrivers for this job. The release linkage is located just below and to the right of the electro magnet, put a drop of oil on the pin in the middle of the linkage.

I suspected the green wire from the flash socket and disconnected it but this did not help.
I will go into the lens and check out the linkage.

Well, I cannot find the problem.
A very good condition CC w/ box, case and inst. book - but not working -very frustrating when you consider it was working well only six weeks ago.

Perhaps off to ebay it should go!

Dis kind of thread always makes me sad 🙁 Was out shooting with my GX and CCN earlier today ... Just a reminder...always treasure the "now" because you don't know how long that "now" is going to last.

What annoys me is that it is in excellent shape with all the lights and RF working as they should but it is just locked into one speed range - approx 1/60th to the ear.

I feel your pain. But how about finding film and shooting conditions allowing you to stick to this one speed with some aperture adjustments? I think 1/60 is more practical than 1/500 without battery.

A working CC is a treasure. Highly underrated camera. Cracking 35/2, and the best build quality of any Yash I've ever owned (quite a few...) I sold mine a while back to fund other purchase and regret it (a little) but if I didn't do that I wouldn't have some of the stuff I enjoy now, so...

This was designed to be a Leica-killer me thinks but the Japanese - as pragmatists, never could quite overcome (or understand, pehaps) that it's about "cache" not just providing comparable product at a fraction of the cost...

Anyway - have you tried Mark Hama? I'd do that before putting up a non-working (and hard to find) camera like a CC on eBay and get "hardly worth it" money back. Things need fix'in and servicin' sometimes (even when things are new - let alone 40 years old...)
