Very confused
An interesting article on luminous landscape today:
http://luminous-landscape.com/columns/sm-05-09-04.shtml
Does anyone know the likely useful life of of CD-R media? How often should we renew arquival files to ensure we don't lose them?
If this is a real concern, we should spread the word, so that we may eventually get the manufacturers / distributors / marketers to offer more information and guarantees.

Agreed... it IS a concern. A recent AP article about this might still be available at

Truthfully, my negatives are my guarantee. Computer technology moves too quickly. Some say you should simply move your files onto the new technology or make backup disks. Sounds like a good idea, except for the time it takes to back up your backups.

I know that there are probably some good articles on that site but Michael Reichmann have lost all credibility in my eyes after some of the blatant sponsoring of certain digital camera brands and also some very questionable film-digital comparisons that I refuse to even go to that site.
Note: just my own personal thoughts - and only based on my own subjective feelings.

What did he specifically say or do that turned you off to that guy? Isn't he a big film/medium format landscape photographer?

Pradeep Rich has not visited the forum in quite a few months. Don't hold your breath waiting for a reply.
