Celebrating my M8's first year, and End of Warranty - by ripping off its disgusting cover, and installing Morgan's M8 Levant Leather.

Now, it is beautiful and feels so nice in my hands.

I still dont understand why Leica put this nasty stuff on the M8 in the first place. Why not use the same as they were already using on the M7 and MP? It never occured to me when buying my M8 that grip quality would be any less good than on the film M's. Obviosuly the coating was inproved on the 8.2, but it cost me £200 to get this on my M8.

I put Griptac on both of mine. The original skin is very slippery to hold.

hmmm. No pictures from me, but www.cameraleather.com has photos of the Black Levant. It is beautiful material. I've done 3 cameras in my lifetime with it.
