I usually don't shoot color film, preferring instead to shoot digital for all color images. However, I was curious about the new Portra, and decided to give it a try (gear: ZI with a CV 35/1.2 and a little help from a B+W 0.6 ND filter). Here are some images from this weekend's Tet celebration in Garden Grove, CA.

Funny. We photographed the same guy. Also with Portra (but I used the old 160 I guess).

I didn't stay too long at the festival. We had a nightmare finding a place to park, the ticket kiosks seemed really disorganized, and people butted right in front of me. In fact there were a lot of rude people there, one guy just practically pushed me out of the way to get by. I do wish I had time to photograph all the colorful costumes... but my wife and I were not in the mood to linger unfortunately.

I like your second image the best.

Chuc Mung Nam Moi = Happy New Year

Good to see that this wasn't generalized as "Chinese New Year" - It's also VN'ese new year, and other SE Asian cultures.

Love the vibrant colours captured here.
