I'm staring at my Moto E815 on the table here. Hey, kids, am I on the inside straight of something new?

No. I've done some snaps with my E815 (which, unlike Shawn's, is my main–lone–cell phone). I didn't even want a camera phone, but couldn't find a decent alternative. I've taken the odd snap here and there with it. I haven't bothered with the video option. Yes, I suppose, if one is inspired, one can have a digital pocket-Holga moment, but it doesn't even grab me as sheer novelty. (Some of Shawn's pics are good, though.)

The E815 is one hell of a cell phone, however. 😉

my phone has a 5mp camera and takes nice photos but also takes about a second to decide its going to take that photo.its taking pictures of what it wants.

A cell-phone camera is a perfectly acceptable tool- limited obviously, but perfectly acceptable in many places where another camera isn't. I use my phone from time to time, mostly snapshots of the kids or for note-taking- and prints at 4x6 look pretty darn good. Many wonderful images were made on Polaroid Spectra film and those cameras were pretty limited too.

I thought they were quite nice. Some of them have a sort of Eggleston quality. And, considering the hardware - framing on those things, + the shutter lag - i'd be quite happy with them if i shot them....

My only problem with stuff like that is that i would always kick myself if i was confronted with a photographic opportunity and only had a cell phone. Any picture i would be proud of having made with a cell phone is also one i'd be disappointed with for not having a 'more appropriate' tool in that moment....

Youd kick yourself more if you had nothing.I was on the phone when I saw this,thought about it and discussed the potential image on the phone and then took the photo.Its a 5 megapixel samsung camera phone,but seems to record at 72ppi so how it would print I dont know........Neil

I recently upgraded my iPhone from the 2G to the 3Gs and the newer one has a spectacular camera in it (for a phone). The only digital shots I take come from that phone. Haven't printed any yet.
