CENSORED!!!!! Who deleted the link in my signature ?

I'd get a Zorki if you're going into the Minus! They were built in that temperature, so they HAVE to still work :D

I dunno, I could always make a thread slating most of the world's nations, dedicating my life to a certain religion, then saying SLR's are the better camera :D

Oh c'mon Ash! Where's the angst? Rail against the machine man!
Don't be reasonable, you're 19 for chrissake!

Well I'm glad you all so much fun.

As for the replies in this thread, I am upright and honest enough to bow my head in shame whenever there is a reason to do that. And I must say at one stage, I did indeed wonder if I had uploaded the link correctly, I remember clicking to the site on that link, but this could also have been imagination.

However there is one guy here who actually visited the blog by clicking on the link, he called it an "anti Bush" blabla or something similar (in this thread).... so it must of been there at some stage, and I for one certainly did not delete it, this I surely would of remembered.

Magnus,
The link is still there if you know how to read it. Nobody has changed it but for it to appear as a link it needs to be written, as Ash pointed out in the beginning in post 3 and 12, in bbcode due to software changes on the site. None of the admin has changed it or any other sig. However the sites software has changed and this has caused several peoples links to display in an odd manner. If you would like me to change it for you, I would be happy to do so. (As long as I don't get accused of censorship again ;) )

As to the site itself, you can hardly expect everyone to share the same views as you. Ash very kindly did the link correctly in post 12 for you and that is probably the link the other poster used.

Kim

Blimey, that's cold! How do you think your Bessa will hold up to temeratures that cold, or are you going to be using a different camera?
I'll probably take the Bessa anyway to see how it's doing. :)

In addition, I'll take a Canon AE-1P. I had it with me two years ago when I was doing field research and I know it to work fine. I've attached a few pictures. The first three are from Kazan' in Tatarstan, on the coldest day of the winter when it went down to -27 (note the little icicles in the girl's eyelashes). The last one is a frozen canal in Moscow at -20 or so.

I've got a Zorki already (two, in fact, thanks to Jobo :D), along with a Kiev 4AM and my wife's FED-5. If I get the rangefinder aligned properly on my Zorki 6 I might take that one instead of the Bessa (but over there everybody laughs at you when you run around on New Year's Eve with a Zorki ).

I'd nevertheless be careful... The manual for my Kiev 88 states it's fine to use down to -15 only. :)

I like how this thread is left open even though it is waaay off topic for the most part simply because Magnus was yelling at the moderators so now they are having their fun with him now, and yet my thread about catching a criminal was locked for I'm not sure why with out even so much as a note saying sorry we have to lock it or why.

Not that I am taking magnus' side either.. There is a lot of pigheadedness in this thread me thinx.

In what way have the mods had their fun here? They've been incredibly restrained and polite...in a way I would have found very difficult if someone had accused me of such a thing.
The thread still lives because we've all been sitting around wondering if magnus will retract the accusations in the face of the evidence...and because no one has been particularly out of line (my guesses to the mod's motivations only).

It is unfortunate that Magnus isn't quite getting the solution to his issue, and perhaps not seeing the reasons why this all happened in the first place. The rest of the thread is just one of those weird tipping point situations where several folks went off on random tangents. Sometimes it's good to have those. We all just have to hope that the originator of the thread doesn't take the random posts the wrong way.

Magnus, the ball is indeed in your court. But, in a nicer way, just take a moment, breathe, look closer at what is being said about your particular situation (esp. by Ash), and you will have your answer. Ignore the random other comments in the thread. It's just folks blowing off some steam. Which I hope even you agree is often a good thing.

when a thread becomes 'sensitive' and when the mods are involved, we bow to the wisdom of jorge who will be the one to either allow a thread to continue or lock it.
he has already given a warning and i can only assume he is ok with the subsequent behaviour from all involved.

personally, i feel insulted by magnus and his accusations and his belittling language regarding the mods.
i have publicly asked for an apology because he publicly accused us, without benefit of private messege beforehand.
he seems to be ignoring that request and in fact his only post after my request seems to be saying that we are lying about deleting something that is still in his sig for all to see.

that's my take on things.

Joe,
I actually think you're right on all accounts. My point was to speak to Magnus (as other have done, all to no avail) to get him back on track. The information he needs in order to calm down about his sig is there. Hopefully, after he sees and acknowledges that, he'll apologize for what he has stated about the mods.

The sad truth is that being a mod is a rather thankless job...well, I guess the ZI helps :).

That's cool, Joe. I tend to think all posts are actually in response to or about me. Not sure why that is... :)
