Of course they can rebuild and I'm sure they have insurance, and I understand people are angry... but that store front was amazing. Too bad...very sad. Owner has a great outlook on it though.

Back in the 1960s, Wolk Camera, Altman's Camera, and Central Camera were the three stores on Wabash Avenue in Chicago where I shopped. Central was the last of the three still in business.
It saddened me to see its destruction on television news.

I remember those three stores very well. In fact Wolks at one time 3 locations in the loop if I recall correctly.
I worked at Altman’s up until the store closed down.
Very sad, very bad.

Been where in 2019. Walked out empty. Prime location, primed prices.
But it is pity this store was destroyed. I like how Chicago has old times decor on the streets. Big contrast from crappy toronto, which just come and go place.

Altman's in the early 1970s had Canon 35mm f2 lens in LTM selling new for 65 dollars.
So sad to hear about the looting and burning of Central Camera.. Chicago deserves better than this....all this reminds me of the Watts riots in 1965 and the hot summer July riots in Detroit in 1967...same destructive pea-brain mentality at work...it is beyond common sense.
