Got a Fuji G617 on the way and it comes with the centre filter. Thisis new territory for me. So I checked an online version of the manual but couldn't find how to take the filter into account when metering.

I use a handheld meter. Have to as the G617 doesn't have a meter.

Now:
- do I just meter and does the filter corrects for overexposure of the center?
or
- do I meter and correct for the filter so that the center is correctly exposed and the corners are a bit more exposed to be level with the center?

Hi.
My understanding would be thst the filter is designed to compensate for the light fall off at the edges of the frame. Therefore i would meter the scene and compensate for the filter.

You would not overexpose the centre, but underexpose the corners. The centre has the nominal aperture - there is light falloff to the corners (due to the inevitable geometrical distortion of the aperture in wide angles). The filter (provided you have the filter matching the lens) compensates the falloff, accordingly the ND figure given applies to the whole filter and can be applied without considering other factors.

Ok thanks. Tought it was that way but wanted to be sure. With 4 taken on a roll of 120 I don't want to waste too much film.

It is the matching filter, that is a good thing to start.
