If you read this leaked story on the specs for the new Fuji X100s, this surely is an indication on the next X-Pro2's specifications. A new sensor, better hybrid viewfinder, faster processors etc. the new X100s and the new X-20 seem to show the future for the X cameras and Fujifilm.

More about the X100s & the X-20 will be out this afternoon.

the new screen focusing seems to be exactly what i have been waiting for, hope they can bring out a firmware update to enable this on the XP1

They seem to, on paper, have corrected everything except for adding more robust buttons to the back of the unit. If they deliver what they are offering, this could be the camera I've been waiting for. However, there seems to be one of those "holy grail" cameras every year and they seldom meet the unrealistic expectations of internet forum dreamers. ;) In the meantime, the non-leica "mirrorless" cameras that have been released over the last 3 years or so have been really fun to use.

Holy Grail 1 followed by Holy Grail 2 later this year.. (XP1s or whatever).

I reserve judgement til I see how this digital split imaging actually works. Speculation is nice, and anticipation, but there were quite a few superscripts in their news release, haha.

I think I read somewhere that the split screen focusing relies on the PD sensors and, if so, would not be able to be implemented with a firmware update alone.

Quote from leaked press release:

Making use of the built-in phase detection pixels for AF action, the X100S is the world’s first camera to offer a “Digital Split Image” feature, which displays dual images on the left and right to be lined up for manual focusing. This enables accurate focusing especially when working with an open aperture or macro shooting.
I hope that they will at least backport focus peaking to X-Pro1/X-E1.

Simple: Full frame sensor with interchangable lens. Compatible with Leica lenses via adapter, priced at 2500. That will be the holy grail.

And should they just trash all their existing and planned lens including those designed by 3rd party manufacturers (e.g. Zeiss, Samyang, SLR Magic)? Not going to happen.

Cheers for the link.. that is rather neat, From what you posted about using specific phase pixels or what have you, I guess those who bought the XP1 XE1 maybe out of luck.. oh the joys ;) XP2 and XE2 bring it on.

Leica already makes three of those. Wait a couple of years and you can even hit your $2500 price point on a used one.
