CES: Please Report X100 News

Thanks.. It might be a good time to announce the price/intro. date, but then again, who knows how far down the road the project really is.

Just spotted this on the Fujiguys' Twitter feed from CES - 'X100 does have a quiet shutter'. (Arguably, they would say that, though. Quiet compared with what?)

Too much interest, price is now $1200 USD........ UGH!!

to be fair, that was the price Fuji were quoting at Photokina -- €1000.

i think a lot of people heard the "1000" part and just put it in their own currency... when i came back and saw all over the net the price being quoted as $1000, i was shocked and never believed it for a second...

Fuji hasn't changed the price at all. american sites are just finally reporting it correctly ;)

Henry's in Canada is also listing as $1199. Canadian dollar is currently at par with US. Both have listed for pre-order for awhile now. Downtown Camera is listing for $1100. So, if any are sitting on the shelves, we'll be able to price match in Canada. I'm guessing first few months will be gobbled up with pre-orders, though.

$1200.00

$1200.00

Remember that the dollar has taken a hit vs. the Yen since September. $1200.00 sounds good to me if they deliver as promised.

$1200 might seem like mid level DSLR prices, and not that much; however, is it really worth $1200? As I'm concerned the answer is no. For one the retro body and its unique viewfinder does not justify such a price. Fixed lens, outdated sensor etc... Not to mention, despite the retro pretension its still just a digital camera.

I just posted this because I had raised this issue in the other thread, but having said that I don't want to argue over it, and I encourage people to try X100. I'm going through a digital satiated phase anyway, so X100 would have to wait for sometime.
