Just for fun, I typed in the registrant's name as the eBay user ID and a description of what is likely to happen to the registrant when he goes to jail, for the password. Afterwards, it took me to the main ebay screen where I was signed in as a guest.

Judging by the satelite image from Google I would agree this is being run out of Mom and Dad's house. That's decent real estate he is risking on his parent's behalf.

I typed a phony password stating what I'd like him to experience, and it logged me in!

I think my computer just logged me in anyway.

Still... I'll change the password nonetheless. I always look at the url frame in my browser, so I would have noticed the same Stu did. And, as usual, I'll follow his advice.

Just because there's nothing wrong with it. 🙂 In fact, the same eBay people recommend that we change it from time to time.

More info needed. What exactly were you doing when this happened? Were you browsing eBay from a known site, or did you follow a link first?

There are some trojans/worms in the wild which manipulate the hosts file in /windows/system32/drivers/etc. Every address found there isn't looked up via DNS and thus you can redirect anything to anywhere if you have access to this file.
