I haven’t seen Jerry Uelsmann since both of us, along with Will McBride and Pete Turner spoke at a Miami Conference many years ago, but I think all of us, or at least me, were minor leaguers compared to Jerry when it came to the ability to reach the audience so strongly as to produce an emotional response.

Seems his popularity isn't what it used to be, but I imagine he'll be "rediscovered" again in the future.

... What do you think are the biggest changes that digital has brought about? ...

Flexibility! Instant image thumbnail(s) and easy "dry" processing. Digital files provide for a better (more detailed) printing source - although it didn't start off that way, but there is [planned] obsolescence (this doesn't only apply to the camera).

Bottom line: Digital output results are cleaner (better IMHO) with much more detail.

As it stands currently, overall my experience with digital is much better than that of film and I don't miss the darkroom experience.

The only downside (and it's a big one) is that I know at some point my expensive digital camera will become an elaborate paperweight and my processing software and file format(s) will change. Also, there is something about that film experience (speaking as a Leica M shooter) that doesn't translate to digital (advancing the film and knowing my camera will outlast me as long as someone is around to service it).
