Hello,

I'm on a 6-day trip and I brought everything but the battery charger! GRR :-(

Does anyone know the M8 can charge through the USB cable? I'ts a stretch, I know,

but I am depserate.

I seriously doubt it.

See if you can find a local Leica dealer and ask if you can charge your battery there -- and maybe purchase a second battery from them and charge that one too!

No you cannot. For one thing USB cannot provide anything like the power needed to charge. Where are you? Maybe a fellow forum member lives near - try the other forums as well.

If worst comes to worst, you can buy an el-cheapo knock-off charger for another camera of the same voltage, or a cheap power supply from a discount store.

Strip the wires, noting polarity, and scotch tape the wires to the Leica battery terminals (out of the camera, of course). Don't stick your face too close to it. After an hour or so, try the battery. If the battery feels warm and the camera works, you charged it.

thanks guys. I'm in Montana right now, so no chance of finding a camera shop nearby. But I'm going to Prague tomorrow, so I'll just go to a dealer and ask them to buy a new battery and have them charge both< as Joe suggested...

Another thought is to buy a extra battery and charger and have it overnighted to your hotel. Not sure about customs and all, but it might work.

I'm not so sure you'll find a camera shop with M8 Batteries/chargers in Prague. But you are within an easy days drive from Solms..... And I'm sure Leica will fedex them overnight to your hotel.
