Cheap and cheerful, good choice. The Nex5 has a better grip then the 3, however, the 3 will work perfect with the same 14mp sensor. If you want cheap, go for one of the 14mp bodiesDon't know how much the NEX 5N's are going for these days, but I found a NEX3 for $100 on ebay a couple of months ago. Note that I was specifically looking for a cheap NEX body to convert to IR.

The output looks fantastic for the price. It's hard to imagine a better value in a new with warranty camera. The 22mm looks great too as Akiva mentions.
Trigger it quick when you find it at the $299 package price. Looks like that deal comes and goes.

I still have my two Nex 3's and they just keep chuggin' along. Right now my younger Son is using one for filming videos for his college undergraduate classes. I bought mine new when they were relatively expensive. Not so by now.
