Hello all,

I'm heavy user of Poundland's £1 colour film, but would like to use some B&W.

Could people recommend sources and film brands? I'm not fussy about brand, grain, or much at all really, but would prefer 400iso if possible.

Thanks all!

I usually order them from 7daysshop. Prices are not very cheap but it is free delivery.
I would be interested in hearing others as to where they get theirs from.

I bought 10 rolls of Kentmere 100 36 exp. from B&H in New York. It cost me $NZ55, including postage to New Zealand. That's about 31 pounds at the current exchange rate.

Ilford Hp5 is £4.35 in london camera exchange for 36.

Helps to keep the stores and Ilford in business.

I think Fomapan 100 is about as cheap as you'll get without looking at out-of-date film. Ag Photographic lists it at £27.90 per 10 36-shot rolls.

At the moment for me (I live in northeast England), it's cheaper to buy HP5 and Kentmere from Germany than from the UK.

Fomapan 400 is pretty cheap on eBay and I have had good results with it. I also bought a bulk roll of Ilford Pan 400 which has been good as well.

If you'd like to buy Kentmere or Ilford films then try Harman Express (they sell only within UK). They offer the best price and fresh off the factory. Then there is their occasional discount codes up to 20%. I think you'll find one or two 10% discount codes if you google for it. Oh, free shipping over £50. :)

Another option, assuming you'd like to buy bulk rolls, would be buying those Rollei RPX series films directly from Maco Direct. The price is pretty competitive for anyone buying from EU (compare to Ilford film prices).

Thanks for sharing that, I can't believe I didn't know that existed! :bang:

Following Ashfaques recommendation I ordered some supplies from Harman Express about 10:30 yesterday morning and it all arrived today. I would certainly recommend them. You need to spend £50 for the free postage but nowadays that doesn't seem hard to do.

Someone posted on FB group today that Boots are doing 3for2 on HP5 400 120 film ,maybe its worth checking it out.

This is true, I picked up a three pack of Lomo Lady Grey, reduced due to short expiry date for £4.50

I've noticed that they even sell 120 now as well as FP4 and Lomo Black and White/Colour. They're only worth it though if it's an emergency or they have an offer on like this.

Yes, Boots do have that deal going on for HP5 & FP4 in 120 and 35mm formats. Most of the larger shops stock it too which is handy.

I also use www.discountfilmsdirect.co.uk and find them reasonably priced, really friendly and helpful and they stock a wide range. Give them a try!

Regards

Simon

Good to hear that, Stephen. Don't forget to google for the discount codes. With that, for e.g., a 30.5 m. bulk roll of FP4+ is just over 50. So no shipping cost (=> about 10 pounds of saving). :) I did a calculation and compare their prices with BHP. After those two Harman discounts it's about 10-15% more expensive than NA. You also get the most recent films. It's almost like buying fresh veg from your local shop on weekends. :D
