Hi All, I think I am suffering an attack of GAS on the cheap. I have spent far too much time recently looking at Fleabay for Point and Shoot bargains. Nothing like waiting for the postman to arrive when you have snagged another cheap 80s or 90s P&S marvel. Looking mainly for fixed lens models, but not Mju ii as I have already got good examples of this model and also Mju I. Trying to find the elusive ones that have not yet reached cult status.

You have lots of good black and white photographs on your flickr site.
I have pretty well have rid myself of gas. I used to get gas attacks after a couple glasses of wine!

I bought a Nikon 35AF (already a classic) that came with a Canon Sure Shot Supreme that has a 38mm f2.8 lens. I gave my 8 year old son the Canon and it is a nice camera. Fits the hand comfortably very comfortably and you can open and close the spring loaded lens cover with your middle finger. The viewfinder is pretty decent (much better than the Mju II) and it follows the 35AF in not advancing the film until you let up on the shutter release.
Main downside is the tiny recessed button on the bottom to shut off the flash. You have to hold that in while taking the shot to disable the flash if the camera had decided you needed it. A few shots from my son.

EDIT: Just checked the big auction site and there is a Buy It Now for $5.89 for one of these and that includes the fitted leather case.

Konica Big Minis are great. I love those.

Yashica T3, maybe? I was given one by a neighbor -- 35/2.8 Tessar (faster than the T4's). Downside is a 2CR5 battery. Larger than the T4, but not a beast.
Konica C35? Not a point and shoot, though, since it's got a rangefinder.
Chinon Bellami? Again, maybe a little earlier than you're targeting, since it's not AF but rather zone focus.
Have fun!

Thanks Bill. I only shoot black and white. The compact cameras have made a fair contribution to my flickr output. There are many of them that are very capable cameras. Also very little shutter lag on this model. Much less than Mju ii.

Hi Shawn. The Sureshot Supreme is a good camera. Nice lens with a great IQ and very cheap right now. Also though not as compact as some, it feels positively comfortable in the hand.

There is plenty of cameras that go unnoticed, I recently bought a nice Pentax PC35AF for a price of 9" Margarita pizza. It has a fantastic 35mm 2.8 lens and runs of AA batteries.

The only other one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned already is the original Fuji Klasse with a 38mm f/2.6. It was also sold as the Rollei AFM35.

Keep in mind the Fuji Natura S 24mm 1.9 is very expensive. Very.

I always wanted to try a Canon MC. Autofocus, 2.8 lens, sliding cover. Looks very "80's view of the future". I have a knackered copy that I don't know where to start with fixing...

I just took my first shots last night with a Konica Genba Kantoku construction site camera that I got for $15. I only hope that the photos will be significantly crappier than what I get with my $1,500 Konica RF/ Zeiss Planar 50mm combo.

I have it for sale now and wouldn't mind to get IIa.

After several years of keeping it at bay, I also have a GAS issue again. I just picked up a cheap screw mount fujica camera from evil bay that I'm hoping is in good condition. I love your B&W photos, do you develop them yourself?

Thanks John,
I've been wanting to start B&W development for years, I really need to just start doing it and stop procrastinating!
