f2 wide angle in such a small package...Fuji Natura S 24mm f/1.9
Last year I got a Canon Prima AS1 for £1 on Ebay (+£10 shipping). Only ran a couple rolls when I forgot to rinse the saltwater after a dip and it died, oozing burnt smell. After leaving it alone 2 months, it seemed to work again and I could squeeze 12 exposures in the water until it died again.
eBay kind of sucks for cheap items because there's always the shipping that can be much higher, then it isn't as bargainy as some second hand thrift shops and the occasional local classified. Not in US, UK or Japan where these cameras seem plenty.
My weak point is Underwater. My hometown is along the Coast, beach, warm... GAS says Nikonos, but I don't want to drop 100€ into one.
There's the Nikon AW AF, Minolta Weathermatic, Fuji HD-r/HD-m, etc. But on the bay they seem to be rare and too expensive. Then there are reports of those being cheap, for 1000 Yen in some Tokyo store, argh!
Thinking that I must feed film to those stops the GAS
Not P&S but Midrange AF SLRs are quite some bang for the buck.

I went to a local thrift shop today and found a Canon Sure Shot Supreme with leather case for $5. It has a 38mm f2.8 lens. I'm looking forward to running some film through it.

Good deal! Considering the film and battery are going to cost more than the camera you will be very impressed with its output.

Konica Big Minis are great. I love those.
I bought one for my daughter when she went to college, but of course, she destroyed it. It was a great camera, just not tough enough to have 7-UP spilled all over it.
I've had many of these cameras over the years, and my favorite you already have; the Olympus Stylus Infinity (mju 1). Be sure and use the fill flash feature, it is excellent on this camera, and puts a snap into B&W images on overcast days. And I believe you have a few of those around Port Isaac.
Not an overcast day but a fill situation.

Geez I guess I read it a few days ago and forgot it.
Mine seems dead. I loaded film and it advanced but the shutter doesn't seem to fire. Oh well at least I didn't lose much.

That is too bad. Try holding in the flash button and seeing if it will shoot then? I think it doesn't shoot if it is trying to charge the flash.

Hi, the shutter button can get unresponsive on these. I have one that suffered from this but it came back to life after exercising the button. I like the Sureshot Supreme a lot for its lens. It is the sort of camera I had in mind with the opening post. Shame it takes lithium battery, but these are long lived, espescially if you don't use flash. Also it has focus lock but not exposure lock, unlike the Stylus Infinity.
