I'm sort of new to getting my color film processed (shot mostly in b&w before and for a while digital color p&s) and I couldn't find an answer to my specific question, I checked out this thread:

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52121

and was surprised at the 2 dollars a roll comment, is it possible to find a place in new york city (brooklyn and queens included) that processes color print film for 2 bucks or under? If not, what's the cheapest place? I just want my negs processed and cut, I scan my own stuff.

hmm and i guess while i'm at it, could you guys recommend some film? In the past I've shot with kodak portra on my tlr and was very very impressed with it (its all i used since my school covered the cost of film and developing and is what they gave me), and on the rare occasions I shot color in 35mm I used 400 fuji something, was ok nothing impressive. Oh yeah does this still apply? http://photo.net/equipment/film it says created 1996.

I'm looking for 100, 400, and 800 speed 35mm color film that won't break my wallet and still looks good scanned.

I think I might be asking for a lot but right now i can't afford to make the digital rangefinder jump (can't even make the cheap digital slr jump) and i 'm really itching to shoot in color other than my p&s! :bang:
