I am now hearing predictions the Dollar will have upward mobility in 2010, which means that if I buy my M9 by mid summer 2010, that should translate into lower prices. If so, boy am I glad I waited. My M8 is holding its own very well right now, so I am in no rush for this. What I hope happens is that there will be some upgrades (M9.2) including a chrome version for less than I would pay now!

Yup, if they start raising interest rates to bolster the dollar, then it might just slow down the long term decline of the rapidly shrinking dollar. Recent, short term signs are good. Of course, raising the interest rates threatens the economy in other ways and there we have the threat of a double dip recession. If what you hope for is true, maybe you can buy an M9.2 under 9K.

List prices almost never come down; the difference is made up in rebates and offers. The dollar has certainly strengthened from where it was a few weeks ago ($1.44/€ today), but it's still got a long way to go before getting back to the $1.30 or better that I regarded as the minimum exchange rate where it was worth converting money into Euros.

Cheers,

R.

I wouldn't look for the FED to raise interest rates any time soon, so I don't know how much the dollar is going to actually rise. Keep saving for the M9, though. 🙂
