Hi,

I'm looking for a chap lens, small enough to carry in my jeans pocket when not mounted to the Bessa R2M.

Sub US$100 is my goal, but that could be adjusted slightly.

The only one I could find was the Industar 69, which doesn't cover the whole frame, and the Industar 50/3.5 pancake, which seems to be an SLR lens?

Preferably the lens should be below 35mm focal.

Cheers!

I suggest you don't - too much condensation. That being said, the Orion 15 runs below US 200 usually and is small, light and sharp.

No collapsible works on my pants, regardless of the camera - the lens does not collapse into oblivion, it simply sticks out back instead 😉

The Industar-69 is made for a half-frame camera and must be modified to focus to infinity on a Leica mount camera. It will not focus past 3ft or so without modification.

Of lenses I have seen there is nothing that would not make one look like a fool: is that a lens in your pocket or are you just glad to see me? Unless you want to go with baggy militaresque cargo pants. As previously stated, unless left on the camera collapsible lenses don't get smaller, they just change shape.

Farther down on the to do list: mount the 28/3.5 optics module from the Nikon Lite-Touch into an I-69 focus mount to get a small lens to provide full-frame coverage.

An hour of your time would exceed Jocko's budget, Brian. As would an LTM Nikkor 28/3.5, that I first thought of.

Sorry for the big-sized shot, this is my Canon Serenar 28/3.5.

It sticks out about an inch from the camera.

I guess this is as tiny as they come. Might be over budget though. I paid approx. USD200 for this one, but that partially was because of the engraving too...

The pants in question are pretty damn slim:

If I could afford, I'd get a Perar 35/3.5, wont make anyone look like a fool.

The CV Color Skopars are very tiny, yet great performers (I have four of the lil' buggers just for travel/portability). Unfortunately, they're way over budget - running anywhere from $275 and up each. But something to think about, down the line.
Yeah, I got the 35/2.5 C and getting the 21/4P the 25th (payday), but I'd really like something, super small, in between that range (28 or 24/25).

But for super small, I could also go for a daytime 50mm, instead of carrying the Nokton around all the time.

Pinhole lens. Modify a body cap. A proximately 28mm field of view, very small, no worries about scratching a lens.
Depending on the pinhole size and your film choice, it might even be hand-holdable in daylight.

Lens aren't made to be carried in pants pockets. I think that you'll eventually scratch the lens with this approach.

Look at the original Cosina Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm Pancake in LTM mount. You might be able to find one for $100.

But again, what's the need for putting this into your pants pocket?
