Cheapest M purchased?

Chrome M5, supposedly near mint, but with dud frame selector lever: $995 US. I am not counting my free M2 from my Dad as you said 'purchased'.

Last year I picked up a silver M6 from '96 and 50 Summilux E46 for $475. The frameline preview lever is slow to respond, but other than that, the camera and lens are fantastic.

The ad was asking $200 for Leica M6. Asked if a lens was included, then offered $475 when I heard there was. We met in a park, I tried to hide my shock when the thing was legit. We chatted. Was her mother's camera and she needed money for her kid's schoolbooks, so I felt good about offering $475. Wish I had more to offer.

Dang, I love this camera. I don't think I'll ever give it up.

I once got an M2 for 280 euros. I think it was priced so low because of the ruined vulcanite. I ordered a replacement from aki-asahi and the M2 looks wonderful now:

Last year, 2 x M2's + 21/3.4 super-angulon + 35 summilux + 50 rigid summicron + 90/2.8 elmarit all with caps, shades plus 21 leica finder for $1800.

My cheapest Leica M kit in recent times is the Leica CL + M-Rokkor 40/2 and M-Rokkor 90/4. I recently acquired this very very nice condition CL body from another RFF participant, it cost me $320 (inc shipping from The Netherlands to California). And the two lenses were each purchased from KEH.com in near-MINT condition ... 40mm was $590, 90mm was $320.

I simply can't beat the quality of these three pieces of equipment for $1230. Here's the obligatory "self portrait in the mirror" with both ...

Full frame, of course, to show the FoV differences. It was tough to hold a 90mm still enough at 1/15 s to let me read the lettering on the bezel. Also showed me that the rangefinder calibration is right on the money!

I ordered a Zhou case for it ($66) and have a Lance camera strap ($40) I'm using with it now. I might change that for a Street Strap ... the Lance is a bit thick and stiff compared to the Street Strap. And I have an aftermarket vented lens hood ($7) for the 40mm.

Add my Skopar 21mm and the kit is complete. 🙂

I found this one in Dallas, there is a thread about it somewhere on RFF. Had to send it to DAG for a CLA. Spent more on the CLA than the camera.

2 years ago, I got an M4 + 50mm Summicron + Meter - Xtras = $750, about 1/3 of value. Came with 1973 purchase papers from PX in Germany. Thus it started...

Then, a Mint M6 plus 3 lenses, RRS clamp and filters for about 2/3 of total value.

Then, an M9 + 3 lenses about half total value.

An M2 for £225 (in 2009), very cheap as the seller declared the eyepiece was badly cracked and unusable.

But when it arrived it just didn't look like a crack. A loupe showed it was just a hard little blob of clear resin or glue or similar: 5 seconds work with a cocktail stick and it popped right off, revealing pristine glass beneath...

M3 $500.00. Sold it and wound up buying another one at twice that. But the first one was a DS user. The one I have now is beautiful.

In 2008 I got an M6 boxed in mint condition, all packaging and papers including the unfilled warranty card from an advertised estate sale in Texas while visiting for $125.00. As I walked out I heard a remark from husband to wife that included the word hick.
