I've decided to take the plunge! Where in Europe are the cheapest M9's?
I keep finding the price is €5500. Does anyone know of cheaper? Can they be found cheaper? thanks john

The price is almost everywhere the same, give or take a few euro's. My local dealer told me that he had to sign not to discounting with the M9.

Wow, you are going for new M9! That's worth a lot of money. I just cannot afford it. My wife will give me no peace if I buy one...

Supposedly an M9.2 is too be at Photokina this next month so there should be a rise in used M9s if it happens.

Chris is right. Best to pay a few euros more from a dealer you trust than to save a few euros and go to a box-shifter.

Nigel, yep I saw that one, thanks! I'm checking all duty free at airports and the only M9 for sale I've seen was at Geneva and the price was still €5500! j

lol. No way.
1) there's nothing to add/fix in the M9 the way there was with the M8. It's as perfect as they could get it save for the sapphire LCD or a black chrome version. Or maybe even (gasp!) a white one.
2) The M9 would only have been around a year come September. It was about 2 years after the M8 that the M8.2 came along. And M9's are still selling well as people are saving up and grabbing them steadily.

The only discount I know is the Student/Educator one, but the waiting period is LONG- nobody seems to want to sell one off the shelf at that price anywhere.

If dealers price is constant you might save a little on VAT perhaps. Netherlands VAT is 19%, Luxembourg is 15% Switzerland is 7.6%

My dealer in Germany gave me 3% discount on my new silver M9, but he had it on stock, so I took it right away

It is worth more to buy from a trusted dealer than to save a few percent on the price imo. With modern complicated electronic cameras - all and any of them-a good dealer is a godsend.

In Europe, prices are usually quoted including VAT, so there's no money to be made here (except possibly for Leica or the dealer).
Switzerland is outside the EU customs zone, so you may have to pay local VAT when going back to the EU.
Just buy one where they have them in stock, it's not like you're going to save thousands anywhere.
