I parted with about 40 rolls of HIE too soon, I see.

Now, I still have about 50 rolls of EIR of various expiration dates in the freezer. If these would fetch $50 roll, I just might part with it and have a handsome profit for all my foresight... 😉 That's almost half way to an M8.2.

If there is a market for $50/roll, then demand will create such prices.

The bidders on that lot are nuts - most auctions for fresh HIE close at around $45 - 50 a roll. This is for 8 year old stuff - that is kind of risky IMO.

I think the B&W is going to always bring more in general than the color - it is easier to use and appeals to more people. I don't see any auctions that ended at $50 for EIR - though one was $80 for 2 rolls. Again, crazy when it can be bought fresh for $25!

I still have about 10 rolls of HIE - and nothing to shoot till spring! :bang:

There is right now someone from Italy offering EIR film at the rate of $40/roll on ebay.

Of course it is about supply and demand - what isn't? My only point is that the buyers are not rational in this case (and that there is little evidence of EIR selling consistently for $40/roll 😀).

A single or a couple of out of the norm selling prices doesn't set the market (either high or low - several rolls of fresher HIE closed in the $40 or less range). These are auctions and almost anything can happen, the only way to know what you will get for expired IR film is to put it up to bid.

Remember, people knew for a long time that HIE and EIR was going away, and they socked a lot of it away - so I would advise anyone who is buying to wait to find the freshest you can for a reasonable price (it will all be expired in a little over 1 month, btw). Paying more for years old film is kind of stupid,, IMHO. :angel:

Again, it really stinks that Kodak has taken HIE away - many people will never get to see what a great film it was. Digital can't even come close to its ethereal look. (But please patronize Efke!! )

Absolutely, the same thing happened to Polaroid 5x4 sheets, especially type 55 (of which I currently hold 47 sheets, literally worth their weight in money)

I have become so miserly with these now that I only expose them after a bunch of digital test shots and carefull metering, I am keen to reserve it for nude models, but since my wife won't let me shoot any I might have to find another clause for their use.

I have one 35mm roll of that same film in the freezer. I almost gave it away for free, because I don't need it, but after seing this auction I would be happy to make you an favor and sell it for 60 euros (+ shipping)! What a bargain!

As for the Konica - its not as sensitive into the IR, and I don't think it would be close in value since the Efke is readily available. But who knows on the auction site?

I don't want to buy more than a few - I don't think I'll be crazy about it! I can trade some UC400 if you are into that. 😀
