almost $1200. At least that with shipping.

I was watching it, refreshing every second for the last 30 seconds to see how high . . . it went from $908 to $1193 in the last 5 seconds. Yes, 5 seconds. Who has skills to do that (it boosted 4 times in those 5 seconds)? People must use computer programs to bid like that.

Glad I got this lens. . . it seems to be appreciating.

wow

It's called sniping. There are legal services that you can sign up for online that will charge a small fee to do this.

I just bid my maximum, usually.

An extraordinary auction price for the 100mm. Just 4 months ago I bought an RF645 body along with the 100mm and the 65mm lenses, all in excellent shape, in an eBay auction. I paid just over $1,400. With the 100 now going for $1,200, it's almost as if I got the camera/normal lens practically for free!

Somebody got a bargain here in light of the silly prices on ebay recently - http://www.apertureuk.com/used-MF.htm. Wasn't me I should add .... noticed it after it sold.

yeah, you should have seen the LN- 100mm lens on KEH For $415.

I bled from the pores after finding out that my purchase was not going to be filled because it had been sold the day before, but they just didn't take down the ad.

When I called Richard Caplan in London, the guy seemed to be completely unaware of the value of the 100mm. He originally gave me a price of just under $500, but said he'd prefer 349GBP to separate it from a kit he was selling on consignment.

He still sold it for far less that the going rate on acution sites, and less than the MSRP in GBP according to many sites.

I love the look of the lens. It has the same beauty that the CV color heliar does. Super soft bokeh, wonderful graduation from in focus to out and vice versa. Totally awesome portrait lens. If I ever sell anything, it will be my Konica Minolta DImage Scan Multi Pro, but I sense I might be able to get well over $1000 for this lens 6 months from now. If I time my listing properly - but I'm more likely to sell organs for cash than this lens. The ones with doubles, at least. Kidneys, lungs.

I agree, shutterflower. I have 2 kidneys, but I only have 1 100mm for my RF645. So I'll let a kidney go first. After that the decision gets tougher as I'll then have 1 of each!

Wow, Last year, after I heard they stopped making the 100mm. I bookmarked 20 used camera sites and I searched every day (sometimes several times) for this lens. I sytematically searched like this for four months until one popped up at KEH. I was able to get it for about $400, and it was only up for a couple of hours. A little luck with a lot of persistence. Damn, what a great camera this is! :D

Yeah, I could cry. I was visiting London the Friday before I noticed that on their web page. I keep torturing myself with the thought that if I'd popped in as was my habit on EVERY SINGLE PRIOR TRIP then I might have had it.

[In case anyone else is torturing themselves, it's been listed (as "sold") on the web page for months]

Isn't the rarity of this lense becoming a hindrance? I left my 135mm at home on a recent trip to Cape Town because I couldn't bear the thought of it being lost or stolen.

How expensive does it have to get before you can't afford to take it out?

There is no price that would keep a good camera home.

The more expensive the thing is, the more it MUST be used to warrant its purchase, unless you've got $$$$$ to blow on collector items. Which I don't. Which is totally against the spirit of photography. I use the 100mm and the 45mm all the time (used to be just the 45). Have only used the 65mm a couple times since I bought this kit. Even though the thing is a unicorn lens, it has been attached to the camera since it came in the mail (the lens), and I just love it. I plan on using it exclusively for me new project.

You could probably sell that 135, get the body switched to 100, and buy a 100mm + other goodies.

I agree. I just got back from a trip to Denver Co. Brought the whole kit along but I shot almost everything with the wide angle. I've found that I like to use the seperate viewfinder detached from the camera, as a sort of preview, to see how the shot will look. It works great. Didn't get to use the 100mm much this time. But I have used it alot before. I'm hoping to go to Europe next year and I would like to take the whole kit, but I'm kind of worried about theives. I could never replace this kit. Has anyone from the states ever looked into travel insurance for cameras?
