I finally got around to checking out the FT2 with a brace of Nikkor non-AI lenses. I happened to pick a cold, blustery day to do it though, and that may have affected the battery and meter performance, as the entire roll of Kodak T-Max 100 was under exposed. I’ll have to shoot another roll when it gets warmer to see if that improves.

This was my first chance to actually get to use the Nikkor-H 300mm 1:4.5, as the other times I’ve taken it out nothing really cropped up as a suitable subject. I used a monopod to steady it and the camera, and it worked well despite the heavy breezes that day.

The pics u show do not seem underexposed.
I like them.

I love what you got out of the 300 f4.5. It's a focal length I don't use often so I just borrow my brother's. I picked up a FT2 last Summer, in great shape save for the meter, while steady, was off by about 8 stops.

Thanks, Bill. I try to haul it with me when shooting the older cameras. I've also got the P version, but have never used it as I read right after it was purchased that the construction of the H gave an improvement in image quality. So I just had to get one. Looks darn good to me.

All nice, agree about the 300mm, not a focal length I'm used to. What I like about the FT2 is it's built like a tank, and the mass gives it stability.

I've got a real soft spot for the Nikkormat. Mine was actually a "Nikomat". I'd echo the comments about them being bulletproof. Not a camera you'd want to drop on your toe.
