Even if you don't read Chinese, this set of photos should be self-explanatory. Except that the first two photos need some explanation. It was the story of how the author went to school when his hometown was flooded when the Yangtze River overflowed in 1998.

I guess that that experience inspired him to compile this series of photos from the web.

These pictures document the dangers that children face while going to school in some parts of China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and somewhere in the Himalayas. The last pictures came from Jerusalem in 2010.

This is excellent, thanks for posting,
On the last photo taken 2010 near Jerusalem, caption reads;

' 一个女孩平静地走向学校,
对身后剑拔弩张的军队冲突,
无动于衷。

The girl walked calmly toward the school,
Didn't pay too much attention to the armed soldiers behind her...

她脚下,布满了抗议者投掷的石块。
就这样, 把世界上最危险的路留在了原地
她继续前行,
更多的路在她面前铺开

She walks thru the road filled w stones the protesters threw,
She leaves one of the most dangerous road behind
for more roads before her opened up...

(the Chinese writing is a lot better (elegant) than my translate)

Taipei-Metro,

Thanks for translating those two elegant paragraphs.

P.S.

Anybody care to ask:

What camera?
What lens?
