Hi, I just received this lens (serial # 1101645) and mounted it on my Canon 7.
The aperture and distance scales are facing the bottom plate (ie I have to turn the camera upside down to read the scales). The scales are 180 degrees from where they are normally positioned. Is this normal for Minolta lenses of this era? Was this lens meant for a Minolta camera with a slightly different thread mount? Is the lens defective?
I mounted the lens on a L39-FX adapter for my Fuji XT10 and it also rests in the same upside down position. Some test shots indicate the focus distance recorded on the lens seems accurate.
Any insight/suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
Tim

My first thought was that the camera had been repaired in the past and the mount was installed upside down. However, from what I see in the picture, the camera mount appears to be properly oriented. That means the lens mount is somehow misaligned, but I can't see how that would be possible. Is the base of the lens with the lens mount and DOF scale markings one piece or two?

It's possible that someone pulled the lens out of the mount and reinstalled 180 degrees when re-assembling after a cleaning or repair.

It's definitely possible with other lenses in LTM (Canon) and could very easily be the case here.

Thanks everyone for your comments/suggestions. I think it is likely that the lens was improperly reassembled following a cleaning.
