My M8 is on order. I was expecting to have it delivered with the new Elmarit M28 f2.8 which is presumably optimised for the M8 and takes me close to my preferred 35mm. However I restrict myself (virtually) to b&w in available light and will only be using 1 lens. Would I see appreciable benefit in low light conditions from the faster Summicron M28 f/2? Or even perhaps opt for the Summilux M35 f/1.4 as an all rounder? I've had no experience of any of these 3 lenses so hands on advice appreciated.

Hi mate,
like you I ordered the new 28 2.8 when I ordered my camera. I used it for a few weeks before sending my M8 back to Germany and now it's pretty much permanently attatched to my M7. I love the lens, but I'd kill for an extra stop. I'd also kill for the extra bucket load of cash needed to afford an extra $2000NZ (maybe more?) for it. For the time beeing I'm happy with the cheaper version, and eagerly awating the 35mm 1.4 ASPH for work that requires a extra stop and more narrow FOV. 50mm has always been my favourite FL so I decided to use the Leica discount offer on a lens I'll keep for life (and sell a lot of old gear I never planned to.)
At the end of the day I figure I'd love an extra stop on my 28mm but it's not as necessary as it was with film.

Many Thanks
Many Thanks
Guys I have been on the road and would certainly have replied gratefully earlier in normal circumstances. Thanks for the advice. The delivery time for M8s at least allows me the luxury to mull.
