Choices for wide angle

Hello, everyone, I am new comer for the Canon rangefinder

just traded in my Contax G1 and 28+45 for I don't like the AF, and get a Canon P with some extra cash 😀 I managed to get a CV Nokton 50/1.5, now I am thinking of a wide angle to make up my 2-lenses travel set.

I had came over some lenses and have a shortlist of Canon 25/3.5 and CV 25/4. I was watching the canon on the net but it appears to be too expensive. My friend has got a CV25/4 and he's generous enough to let me play with it for a day, general impression is good however I am not a big fan of scale focusing.

Seems their isn't much choice, now I am thinking the other 2 CVs.. 21/4 and 28/3.5, however review is mixed.. 😕 while the canon 28.. are they quite rare? I have yet to see one.

any suggestion please?

Reviews are mixed for which CV lens. Both the 21/4 and 28/3.5 are very well thought of, and great deals. I have the 21, it is very sharp, easy to handle and fun to use. Build quality if very good too. The 28/3.5 is supposed to have even better build quality and share the very good optical performance.

There is the Kobalux/Adorama 28 and 21mm lenses. They are not currently made and a little hard to find, but well thought of too. After that your budget starts getting hit pretty hard.
 
I would second Rover's recommendations. I have not seen mixed reviews on the 28/3.5; I've seen overwhelmingly positive reviews, excellent pix posted here, & build quality that is one of the best among CV lenses. Its only limitation is its maximum aperture, so whether it's the lens for you depends on your intended use. Its extremely compact size makes it a great travel lens.

I just bought a lens, neither 21 or 28.. guess what, my local dealer dig out a 2nd hand Cosina 25 F4 L from his store (marked as COSINA not Voigthlander but I think they are the same thing), he told me no one wants a cosina lens (huh?!) so I can have it for 85 pounds, with the finder (no framlines though)! I guess I have picked up a bargin 😛

post some pics from your new lens and maybe a shot of your kit in the camera & coffee thead.

I do a lot of street shooting, and I think the 28mm, is the perfect focal length. I know nothing of the Canon rangefinders. I'm a "Darkside" shooter. (NIKON).

I do have and use the GIII QL-17 😀

Welcome, Sam66, and I'm sure you'll like that Cosina (Voigtlander) 25mm f/4. It's an excellent sharp lens that I found ideal for touristy use in Southern Spain. Great in tight urban spaces and broad landscapes...
