Christmas Giveaways 2012

Olympus XA and other stuff

Olympus XA and other stuff

Hi all,
Its been another fun year hanging out here at RFF. Thank you all for all the thoughtful and enthusiastic posts of the technical, artistic, and retail nature. And a special thanks to all the moderators here who do such a splendid job of keeping the hoi polloi in line. :p

I've got a few things to give away to anyone interested. These are all small items and thus not worth shipping outside the U.S., so only for CONUS members. Here's the list; send me a PM... 'first come, first served':

1) [Update: Brian got the XA] I was recently going through stuff left behind by my dad and found what's looks to be a properly functioning Olympus XA. Its in user condition. The A11 flash doesn't seem to work, but its included. Owner's manuals also included. I'll also put a little 'cherry' on top... a new roll of Portra 160.

2) Black metal body cap for Leicaflex camera. Looks new.

3) [Update: Froyd got the strap] Camera strap for Rolleiflex camera. New, Chinese-made, olive green fabric.

4) Nikon F3HP instruction manual.

Spreading some holiday cheer, I have here an Olympus OM10 for a good home!

Ideally this should go to someone getting started in photography, of if you know someone that is getting started and would like a small full featured SLR.

It is very clean inside and out, meter and shutter works fine, it has the extra manual shutter speed adapter too! The back is modified by a previous owner, it has the rubberized back of an OM-PC (om-40), with a film window which makes it kinda convenient too. The bottom plate even has the original clear protection stickers.

It comes along with a nice compact Tokina SD 70-210 f4-5.6 push pull zoom. It is in perfect condition, I dont think it was ever used, I never did use it when I got it either. Very clean optics front and back, stops down fine and is snappy with a nice strong spring.

Everything is wrapped up in a black zippered Nikon FG never ready case in good condition, it was the case this camera came in when I got it with the lot of accessories.

If you cover the shipping its yours! It'll be coming from Brooklyn NY. =]

Happy Holidays

PM sent, my daughter is starting photography in college and this would be perfect.

Jupiter 11 going to Brett!

I did think of the possibility of using it on my M42 kit (Pentax SV, chiefly) via adapter, but I already have two M42 135 mm lenses that I don't use enough, so getting an adapter just for that seemed a bit daft. I would have then needed to start collecting other M39 lenses to justify the adapter!

Thanks so much Dave. It will get plenty of use attached to my 3-M Zenit as well as my TL Electro X with adapter.

I've had a rummage around and have found a couple of pieces I'm unlikely to use.

First off, a Vivitar 135mm f/3.5 lens in Minolta mount for SRT etc. It's a nicely made lens with Vivitar's neat built in hood that slides out. It also has a nifty stop down lever on the side of the lens barrel which I presume is to enable DOF checking on cameras not thus enabled. Comes with front and rear caps. I've attached it to my SRT 101b and the lens is stopping down fine, and infinity focus is good. Lens coatings are also good.

Apart from a small amount of dust typical for its age, the only issues I can find are that the metal focus grip has a couple of small scratches in the paint, and there are three very small spots in what appear to be the second element from the front. These are not fungus, they're perfectly round, well defined, with sharp edges. I can only guess they may be some spots of lube, I can think of nothing else that would get in there that could create this appearance. They won't have any impact on image quality, and are the sort of flaw many ebay sellers probably wouldn't even mention. I think they would clean off well, but FYI.

Yours for cost of shipping, send me a PM if you would like it, first in best dressed.

I also have a Teleplus tele converter that is, (I think) in Olympus mount which is interesting, as it seems to zoom to macro. I'll post up some images of that in the next couple of hours and perhaps someone will be kind enough to give me a positive ID on it, when I do. Just heading out the door now...will check in later.

Cheers
Brett

The OM10 is spoken for and heading to Illinois! =]

Thank you! I called her over to the computer to show her and she was all smiles!

I just wanted to comment how nice it is that a new user's first posts were used offering up such a nice piece of kit for a student!

The holidays are alive and well!

It was very nice!

OK, here are some images of the Teleplus zoom converter I mentioned. The glass looks clean and it zooms smoothly. If the scale is to be believed it can take a 50mm lens to true macro at the close focus range (Ie. 1:1).

Can anyone confirm the lens mount for me please? It arrived in a box of assorted bits and pieces so I know nothing about it but the end cap has "For Olympus" on it and seems a good fit: OM bayonet, perhaps?

As with previous lens, I will post to first member who sends a PM, for cost of delivery (I'm in Australia, but am happy to mail either of these items to overseas members, via Australia Post).
Regards,
Brett

Its Olympus OM. You can tell by the lens release button on the lens. Other camera mounts have this on the camera body, but Olympus put it on the lens.

Finally had a chance for my first offering...

This model has the Apotar 45/3.5 and Prontor SVS shutter, complete with a rather well fitting Kodak leather never-ready in EX condition. Overall, pretty nice shape. Advances fine. Times seem good. Still some contrast in the patch(es).

BAD NEWS: Typical sticky focus -currently limited to 8ft -> INF.

I bought it as a project and never found the time.

As before, US please. First PM gets it for cost of shipping!
