Christmas List????

Hey, the Minolta Scan Dual IV is on my list, too (OK, I'd rather have the Epson F3200 that my brother just got, but it is a bit expensive...).
Other than that: a dining room table and chairs for our new apartment (hey, you can place RFs on the table, so it is not OT).

Joe, do you have a box that comes everyday? I need to show this thread to my wife and say "SEE, they get more than I do!!!"

:)

david,
lately it seems like an almost everyday occurance. i think i have maybe 6 more small items coming from ebay.

kris, through the kind intervention of a member here, i am waiting on a most generously donated nikon scanner, the L30, i think it it is.
it will be strickly used for b&w film so ice isn't a concen.

Hmm, lemme think

- THE EYE, yes, I want to see.
- Canon P
- Canon 50 or Summi screwmount.
- 40mm Summi (or CV, who knows!)
- A brick of Neo400.
- Good health for my Diafine
- And I subscribe to that massive RFF-party :D

Oh, and a decent new computer to properly play Thief-III

I too want a scanner, probably the Minolta Scan Dual IV like the rest of you. May wait for the January sales.

A real rangefinder like the R2, R3, R anything really! Unlikely though just yet. In the last 4 weeks I have bought an XA, a Stylus Epic (MJU-II) and I have a Oly 35SP arriving tomorrow plus I need to sell one or two items yet to raise a liitle cash.

The main things I need are some good photo ideas and sprinkling of talent.

Paul

* brick of Neopan 400
* brick of Tri-X 400 (still love this film)
* brick of Acros 100
* new bottles of Rodinal and HC-110
* subscription to Black and White Photography (UK)
* more time to take pictures

Gene

Heresy on my part... But curiosity bit me really hard.

*Nikon D70 body
*Nikon or Sigma 105mm macro lens
*Either time or a trip to use them both

But, alas, I know all too well I won't get any of that, but a man can dream anyway.

Of course, the good part comes when reading all the "I got this gear from Santa" part, later in December!! :)

Christmas came a little early in the form of a Hardigg Storm case for my Bessa kit.

My list....

  • Canon CanoScan 8400F
  • Voigtlander 50mm f2.5 Skopar
  • Leica MP
  • "Matters of Light and Depth" by Ross Lowell (book)
  • "Black & White Portrait Photography" by Helen Boursier

After all, it is a wish list. :p
Although, I doubt I'll get any of it. :(

A brick of XP2 and NPZ would be nice... and so would a R2a and the new 35/2.5 PII :D

Jorge's 1500$ Minolta Multi film scanner is on my list. Sorry, Jorge, you will have to wait a few years unless Santa helps me out on this.

Really, i want nothing more at the moment.

* maybe a printer for doing B&W only (any suggestions? needs to be less than $200 if possible.)

Check out the HP 7960. I had trouble getting decent B&W from my old HP 5550 and the new one is much better. Even the colour output is improved. Look here http://www.photo-i.co.uk/Reviews/interactive/HP 7960/page_1.htm . Have fun deciding on a make and model.

My wife says Christmas came early for me so don't expect anything under the tree. So no list just a earlly present , M4 & 2 lenses , will have to do. Definately no lump of coal for her this year.

Nice, Bob! :) What were the two lenses?

Peter

They were a Summilux 35mm and a 90mm Tele Elmirat, but the best part to me was that they are Canadian made ones being from the Great White North myself.

Peter

This is a learning curve for me so I have to ask what is the difference between the fat and thin versions of this lens?

Bob

Well one is fat & stubby, the other is longer & thin. I found the top picture below on the internet, I'm fairly sure it's the fat one, the one below it is mine, not a good picture of it but it's the one from the auction when I bought it. It's tiny.

Both lenses are good, the fat one was the first version and the thin one came after it.

For a super cheap(ish) present, consult the Sunday Photographer column on The Luminous Landscape, where you will find a pointer to an Epson photo printer and a B&W inkset *which needs no calibration*. You just pop the ink cartridges in and Bob's your uncle! Santa Claus has been notified...

Peter

Thanks, I guess mine is the fat one and now to try it out on days off.

Bob
