This a open call to everyone!

I would like to put together a batch for stripping. I’ve got atleast one camera getting the good ol dip! I’m looking for a few more to make it worth my time and effort.

I will NOT take your whole camera. Plated brass parts only.

Make sure it’s BRASS underneath. If it’s Aluminum it will become the bath. Lol

Double ziplock bag your bits. I’ll need both bags!

Include a prepaid mailer! Or I can invoice return postage.

No glass, plastic, or steel remaining on your bits please!

No small screws! They WILL get lost. Lol (PM me for exceptions)

Include a written breakdown of what you have included.

Process:
Detergent/Degrease
Chrome: Muriatic Acid bath
Nickel: MetalX Nickel bath
Neutralize/Rinse
Pack and ship

Check my feedback.
PM me to get on the list! I’ll then message everyone when it’s bath time!

Looking for no less than 3 people before I set a date!

Located in Michigan USA

Disclaimer: I WILL take responsibility for any lost or damaged parts! And NO I’m not asking for money.

pretty interesting but shipping and customs would kill the deal from the EU.
I have a prism-dented Chinon Memotron that needs un-denting and subsequently would be awesome in complete brass... Gives me ideas Devin... 🙄

Plenty of time. I’m thinking Mid-Late May. Better weather here so I can be outside!

Just shoot me a PM and I’ll start making a list.

Johan! If it’s just a few pieces it can’t be all that bad? Or could it!

Jim, let me know what you find! Might be able to help break it down.

I think mine will be a Nikon F seeing that’s been my project as of late.

Sure is. Black residue. Its washed off in the neutralizing water bath.

The parts will begin to tarnish within hours and will require either another washing with say a toothbrush or a gentle sanding as prep for further finishing.

All parts will be packed in brown paper once dry and put back in your baggie ready for shipping.

Just fair warning!

Edit: EeEeeK! About to hit 2K posts 😀

My process included bead blasting to remove the smut (residue) that remained after nickel was stripped. Bright brass was the result, stretch wrap it and it shouldn’t tarnish for a long while. 🙂

Bright brass is the ultimate result. Clean brass will tarnish very quickly as you know.

I have brown paper, so I offer that free as well as my time and chemistry.

Many ways to get from A to B really! 🙂

Reverse Electrolysis is one way of removing the chrome. I’ve down this a few times.

Not really necessary as muriatic acid does the same job in seconds with no need to make up a batch of washing soda (electrolyte)

This is the process I’ve come up with over many hours, days, weeks of practical research and experiment.

If you search for my “Orangie” build you can see exactly how clean the brass parts are left.

Hey B-9!

Did Nokton ever get a copy of Petersen's "Photographic Equipment You Can Make" to you?

Cleaning up around here...found 2 extra hardback copies-one's yours for shipping and asking your buddy the PVC welder how hard it'd be to make a copy of the print washer in the book out of PVC.

I never did bug Nokton48 for a copy lol, just wrote it on my white board for future reading.

I’ll pm you! Anything plastic is possible with Wayne (plastic welder extraordinaire)

My victim... 😀

Thinking blue grey?

Hey B-9 - are you still planning on doing a batch this year? I want to strip down a Leica IIIc and paint it. Seems like metalx b-929 only comes in 2.5 pound increments. Not sure i really need that much!!
