CL, 90mm frame lines always showing?

New to the CL so not sure but...

I read "on the Internet" that the 40mm framelines are always showing, and the 50mm and 90mm show up on-demand.

Now, if I look through the viewfinder of my newly-arrived CL, the 90mm framelines are visible. I don't have any lens attached. When I do (50mm ZM Planar) they are still showing? Is this a problem or is there something I've missed?

the 90 framelines shouldn't show with a 50 or no lens attached - only a 90 (or something that looks like a 90 to the lens mount)

I've found that if you press the lens release and turn a 50 as if you're trying to attacht it 'tighter' it will bring up the 90 framelines, but only under slight tension. what yours is doing doesn't sound right.

Damn, I was hoping for problem-free M lens shooting with the CL while my M6 was away for service... 🙁

problem-free is relative - if it's just a matter of extra framelines showing, that itself is just an annoyance in the finder. doesn't affect metering or exposure, so why not run a test roll and see if everything else is ok?

Well, I bought it as being completely working, so if it's not, I'd better go through the hassle of contacting the seller etc. while the deal is still fresh.
Also now that I'm thinking more clearly it should be stated that I can't get the 50mm framelines to show up either. So I guess it's as simple as some lever is stuck in the "90mm lens inserted" position. When I get home I'll try to see if there's something in the bayonet I can wiggle around it that would un-stick it.

To be honest.

Easier if possible to return it rather than play around and do something that will give the seller a reason not to accept it back.

I checked mine and no 90 frames showing with the 40mm and 50 frame line is there, but faint

I just checked my CL

I have a CV Skopar 28 with 28 LTM adapter on - the 40 and 90 frame lines show up.
Without a lens - you should see only the 40 and 50 frame lines.

I have collapsible 50 'cron but it's at home so can't check at the moment.

Well I tried attaching and re-attaching lenses of various focal lengths a couple of times to see if that would unstick anything. Nothing whatsoever changed, I won't start messing around any more and will contact the seller.
