if you missed it, i'm buying enochroots leica cl!

i'm kinda excited at the prospect of yet another new toy and have been thinking and reading up on it.
i have no intention (at this time) of getting either the 40 or 90 made for it.

but...i'm thinking of using the canon 35/2.8 and the canon 100/3.5 lenses with it.

small, light and compact and i get to carry my favourite lens with me everyday.

has anyone used this or part of this configuration before?
how was it?

others, any thoughts?

joe

I like the CL body (my RF could probably use a bit of work, though) but I think you might find it a little bit tricky with the framing of a 35/100 -- the 35 will be a bit wider than the 40mm framelines in the CL, and the 100 will be a little bit smaller than the 90 lines. Really, the 100/90 issue is the only one that's too much of a problem, since the lines are fairly small anyways, you might end up cutting things you thought you were framing out.

However, the 100 is slow enough that the CL shouldn't have trouble focusing it.

I think you'll have a lot of fun, Joe. 🙂

You will like it Joe. As I mentioned before, the only adjustment you will have to make is to either wearing your wrist strap and holding the camera with your left. Either that, or wearing a long enough wrist strap to comfortably wear on your right.

Well, I've used another combo you could try:

Leica CL and Canon 50/1.5. In fact, the 50/1.5 that you currently have.

The 35/2.8 has not made it onto the CL yet; but I have the adapter for it. That small lens is made for it. It is on the VIt at the moment.

i remember reading that brian.

the 50/1.5 may find it's way on the cl, i could see that.

i'm starting to see the cl and m3 as a pair for shooting, or each as a one camera carry for daily use.
the zi for more structured shooting with the cl as backup if it's an important shoot.

many possibilities...

The Zeiss 50mm ZM lens would also work nicely on your CL.

that's true, but i'm now using my zi 50 budgeted money for the cl so i'm back to square one for the zeiss lens.

plus i'm thinking small for the cl. that's one of the reasons i'm excited about the 35/2.8 canon as it's so tiny.

I keep the CL and M3 in the same compartment case. The CL uses up a slot for one lens. The CL has the TTL meter; which is accurate on mine. So pop a Telephoto on the M3 and a 40 (or 35) on the CL and you are ready to go.

thats a good idea too!

a 35/135 combo, haven't done that in a long time.

The VF of the CL is pretty cluttered with framelines and metering stuff. Might be a bit tricky to
frame the 35 but not impossible. Just need to guesstimate. Maybe just used the entire VF?
I've used a 35 cron on my CL but mostly I like the 40 Rokkor. I also like the vertical strap.
Post some pics when you get it!

The entire frame should be just about right for the 35.

Maybe I'll have to get out the CL, 35/2.8 on the M-Mount, and Coffee in the morning.

joe, get the Canon 28/3.5 - _very_ tiny and from what I've seen the whole VF area looks to cover 28 just about perfectly. I got a chance to mount one on the CL today & look through a Canon VF for it, but no oportunity to actually try any real film testing. Might be easier than trying to guess the 35 FOV.

i'm used to the vf on the p, 35/50/100 fl, so this should be ok.

i'm thinking that the whole vf will be ok for the 35, much like the 35 on the p, always a bit of guesstimation.

iirc the canon t90 had lugs for a vertical carry also. i know i used some camera in the past that way and it was quite comfortable.

are you meaning to say 28mm william?
i would have thought the 35 more to the edges of the frame than a 28.

will need to check i guess.

just thinking i may need another ltm adapter as i was planning on using the one from the 135 lens (35/135)

i always found that the whole viewfinder was about as perfect as you can get for a 28mm lens. i guess it depends on how far you jam your eye in there, but w/ the eye relief i used...it was perfect. and weird coincidence...the money from selling the cl to you is going toward a zeiss 50! so i guess that money still is going to buy a ZM 50...just not for you 😉
