CL-- rokkor Vs Nokton

A month Ago I bought a CL body from a RFF member (thanks Ryan!!)
I used it with my 25 skopar, but now I'm thinking in take a 40 lens...
which is the best choice?
I saw a near mint Rokkor in Barcelona..for 300€, summincron-C for 350€ (in user condition) but i think that for this prices i can take a new SC nokton from cameraquest...you know GAS attack!!😀

Which is your opinion?Any one have the same dilemma?😕

I've seen Summicron Cs going for more like $300. I reckon it's the biggest bargain you can get in M-mount.

Best choice is the CLE Rokkor, optics are similar or better than
the Summicron C and mechanics are much better (the one with
the flat RF cam). Also has 40.5mm filter ring instead of Series 5.5.

Good lenses, all three of them (Summicron, CL Rokkor and CLE Rokkor).

Got a good one for US 245 this morning 🙂

I think Roland is spot on. I had a very nice CLE Rokkor that I regret selling, it was an excellent lens. My vote for this lens is based on my great experience with it, not against the other two which also get praise from those who have used them.

Paul, i know that SummicronC is the best leica M mount option..the lens I saw is in worst condition than rokkor..i'll try to find a better one, and if its possible more cheaper..350Euros is near 480$..(i saw one for 300$ a month ago..)

the Dilemma stills near me..i take the camera all time with me...so i use it in a different situations..with light and without..so i think that Nokton 40 1.4'll give me fast shots (i have a canon 50 1.4 for my eos..and really love it..) but Rokkor is less faster but a little bit smaller..

The M-Rokkor is the same lens as the 'Cron! It's just rebadged, and cheaper. Oh, it also comes with a filter thread that's widely available, unlike the 'Cron.

While you are looking, if you happen to see a 50/2.5 skopar, consider it too for the CL, it's excellent on that body.

There are actually two 40mm Rokkors; the early one is identical to the Summicron-C and was supplied with the Minolta-branded CL. The second Rokkor came with the CLE and is multi-coated, has the more common 40.5mm filter ring, and I think also a different, more M-standard RF cam. This is the best of the three.

As mentioned, the 40 Nokton should be a strong choice, since it is very small for its high speed and is excellent optically.

A more obscure and expensive choice is the Pentax-L 43mm f/1.9 in Leica thread mount (easy adaptable to M); limited production but I've seen a couple on eBay recently. I just did a search on eBay for "Pentax 43mm" and found 8 of them at various prices... Seven silver, one black; amazing! Of course Photo Arsenal wants 3x most others. Great lens.

I don't know the Rokkor but I'd take the Nokton over the Summicron-C. Better all round lens, almost as sharp, faster and BETTER bokeh. Yes, that's not a typo. For my reasoning, see here.

Unless you intend to shoot wide open all the time the Nokton, with matched hood. You can beat it up and not feel guilty, then after that the 50mm f2.5 is a dream to use. Or better still rubber the 40mm option goto a 35mm color skopar and just peer a bit. It is a great wee lens and the cost will still be less than the leica or minolta's with advantage of a guarantee and new coating etc.

Don't know about leica's etc as I have never owned one, but I reckon an old leica lens ain't half as good as the new 35mm 2.5, which is said to be really close to earlier leica lenses of similar wideness.

Oh on the peering thing I did a good few months with a mamiya press and a 50mm and it does work, or as we humans are pretty good at spacial awareness. You will learn where in the frame things lie any way.
