CL spool replacements

Hi,

inspired by the Leica CL in the classifieds (which I probably won't get): a common problem with Leica CLs appear to be missing or damaged film takeup spools - either the white "teeth" are broken off or the spool is missing partly or entirely.

Is there a DIY fix for this, or else a replacement, such as a replacement piece from a known "donor model"? Is it possible to have this repaired, and who does this in- and outside the US? How much does it usually cost?

I would check with Sherry Krauter to see if she has any NOS (new old stock) CL takeup spools that she could install for you.

I've read somewhere that the same spool is used in some of the Minolta SLRs of the same period (as well as the shutter and probably many components), I don't know how cost effective they would be as donors though...
