This may have been discussed before. If so, forgive. 😱 But what are your specific expectations of "Cleaned.Lubricated.Adjusted" when you send an RF body to recieve this service?

Hallo Reagan...

A lot would depend on the camera, where I was sending it, and what I was paying. A CLA from CRR in Luton amounts to a complete overhaul, including new blinds, new rangefinder parts and so on, effectively restoring the camera to as-new condition. One pays accordingly.

But, for a basic CLA I would expect

Lubrication of mechanical parts and removal of old grease.
Shutter set to correct speeds.
Rangefinder/lensmount set to correct focus/distance to film.
Replacement of worn seals, if required.
Cleaning of viewfinder interior.
Check/Calibration of meter

I think that cosmetic cleaning, work on interchangable lenses, new shutter blinds and changing battery types are beyond a basic CLA and should be charged as extra services. In effect a CLA should result in a smoothly working, light-tight body. In practice this has not always been my experience 🙂

Cheers - and Happy Christmas to all! - Ian

Thanks Ian. Just the input I was looking for.
