For a Canon 7 and lens whom would you reccommend for a CLA?

Youxin Ye if it's just a cleaning.
DAG if you need the lens collimated.
YY did a beautiful and fast job on a Yashica YF I sent him for cla.
He also sent back a 40mm M Rokkor and recommended DAG.
You gotta love a pro who knows his limitations (in this case his shops limitations).

I'll second Youxin (YYE Camera). Good prices and fast turnaround.
He CLA'd and replaced the shutter curtains on my Canon IVsb. Functions like new now.

Just a note. I just had an excellent lens cleaning and repair performed by Youxin Ye. I asked him about a CLA on a Canon 7 and he told me he does not repair that model. Earlier Canon rangefinders yes but not the 7. No explanation was offered.

Yes, newst is correct. Mr. Ye does NOT work on Canon 7's, but does CLA all of the previous Canon models.
I would also like to know who does affordable repairs Canon 7's. I have a sick one that is in otherwise excellent condition.

Ok good to know. I thought he would do any ltm rf.
I almost bought a Canon 7 that DAG had overhauled from the forum classified.
Someone here had him do it. He's surely capable.
Don replies to email. Send him a note.

Just to clarify -- I emailed DAG, Ye, and Mark Hama. Ye doesn't do Canon 7. The price difference between Hama and DAG was substantial -- DAG being a lot more. I would just like the rangefinder adjusted as I think it's slightly off, shutter speeds checked, and the infinity focus of the lens checked. Thoughts?

You may want to try Stephen Gandy's repair tech. He works on Canon rangefinders. Check out the Cameraquest website for more info.

I sent Hama two cameras in the past (at the same time) - Zeiss Contessa and Voigtlander Vitessa - and he messed both of them up.
He seems to be good for Yashicamats...
You could try this place, I have had great luck with them in the past.

Interesting about Walters, as I am in Los Angeles. I just had an OM lens repaired as the focusing didn't work at Steve's here in LA. Seems fine -- anyone else used them? It is nice not to pack up and mail equipment.

So I went to shoot my 35mm f2 yesterday and noticed something funky with my aperture blades. I only have had this lens for about 3 months. The last time I used it was about a month ago. Don't know how that could have happened in between use. But, I wanted to ask you guys if this is repairable? I would certainly hope so.

Youxin does not do repairs on electronics. The Canon 7 has a built in meter.

Yes, it is repairable. Looks like the aperture leaves have jumped out of place. If you know what you're doing, you can fix it yourself. If not, send it out to a qualified repair tech, like DAG.

Clarence Gass overhauled my Canon 7s as well as the 50mm f/1.4 lens that I put on it.
Clarence is out of Kansas, and he is semi-retired. However, he still repairs cameras out of his home. PM me if you need contact information.

I sent Youxin Ye my Leica IIIC and had a fast turn around when I mentioned when I would want the camera back. Initially he told me it would take a few months to CLA it, but when I told him I needed it back sooner he did the CLA the next day. That was funny to me, because it made me realize a CLA can be done in a day
He was also good with communication and timely replies to my emails. After the CLA was complete he sent me an email with a detailed description of everything he fixed and everything he couldn't quite get perfect due to the age of the camera and lens. Really great guy.

I had good luck with Ross Yerkes locally in Los Angeles. Did a great job on a Olympus Sp35 that would skip frames and was quite stiff and dirty. Came back better than new, very fair price too! 2 week turnaround. I've also had good luck with DAG on a CL and YY on an M2.

Though he doesn't seem to do the 7 at all even if you can't do anything about the meter anyways (Which is usually the case). Maybe it's just a tad more complicated compared to the P?
