My M6TTL is coming up on 10 yrs shortly... Should I send it in for a CLA? The only thing I notice is that the rangefinder patch glass has some little opaque dots on the inside of the glass... They look like water drops one usually can wipe off of the outside of a lens or a viewfinder but they don't wipe off so I assume they're on the inside.

Anyway should I CLA? Are there other reasons to CLA at this pt?

If yes, what are my options?

Should I send in the body with my (only) lens? Or just body?

Thanks,

Are the shutter speeds off or the rangefinder alignment?
Because otherwise I wouldn't send it in.
My M6 is 20 years old and has never been serviced.

I'm usually in favor of not having a CLA until the thing breaks i.e. M cameras but in this case I would be concerned about what exactly is going on with your viewfinder? Mold is an enemy and I would like to know how you store your M6TTL? You shouldn't be experiencing age problems with an M6TTL but mold can be caused by a number of factors. A cleaning of the finder should ascertain what the problem is.-Dick

Any dissassembly to clean/fix the RF is going to be $$$, just like a "CLA" (or close) As long as it's been used continuously for the past decade, and there aren't any issues that compromise functionality or performance I wouldn't waste the money on fixin' what ain't broke.

Send it to DAG
He did my M6ttl and updated the finder to the mp style and upgraded the lever to the m3 style chrome advance lever. He stands by his work, slight vertical maladjustment which he corrected and had back to me within 48 hours. He is the only one I trust my Leica equipment with. You get what you pay for.

Does it expose evenly at 1/1000? That's normally the first thing to go. If it does this, it needs a CLA:

Considering that most of the time I use 1/60 or lower shutter speed, it'd be quite some time until I care about my 1/1000 being off :D

+1 to *not* sending it for CLA.
