I have a QL17 GIII I'd like to send in for a CLA, but will also have others of similar vintage and type. Anyone have some suggestions on good repair shops that tend to deal with these cameras?

Thanks

I have it memorized. The last repair that I got back they listed me as a dealer. You are looking at $75+$8S&H

That of course is more than a camera cost on EBay, but they would be in about the same condition. It takes a good bit of time to service these cameras; of course parts cameras are easier to come by. If the shutter is good, the seals and finder are not hard to do-it-yourself.

Although I have not used them myself, I've read all good and no bad reports about Essex Camera in many forums. They are apparently excellent.

Stephen, one place I have used is Sanford Camera & Video in Arlington. They did a CLA last year on my 28mm Nikkor and did a beautiful job for around $75. They are on Mass. Ave. and easy to get to from Route 2 as well. It would probably be worth your while to give them a call to see if they will service your cameras, they are an authorized Canon, Fujica, Hasselblad, Minolta and Nikon shop:

Good luck!

I have used KEH (keh.com) with good results. I think my Canonet was waiting for me on my front step 6 days after I took it to the post office!!!

I have also heard good things about Camera Wiz (as well as the others mentioned). There is also Mark Hama in Atlanta. And Ross Yerkes of Stone Mountain.

I have no personal experience with any of these - unless it was unknown to me. I gave a local shop my Olympus RD for CLA and shutter repair and then ended up sending it out. Came back FANTASTIC - even a new top to remove an engraving some fool had made in the past - but I don't know who REALLY did the work. Camera shop I dealt with would not say.
