That is a nice one. I had a 55/1.2 Nikkor-S like that one, "Taffer" has it now. I have a Nikkor-SC 55/1.2 and the AI version. Under-rated lens.

I believe that I borrowed one of those from a drawer at work - being in a drawer at work, I can't check. Two things to remember:
1. Don't try any fancy stuff holding the camera away from your body. The weight of that front element will drag you off your feet.
2. It's scary. It sucks in light like a black hole. Don't let anyone you love get too close, or they may be sucked in too.
Sadly, my skills let me down and I didn't get anything good out of it. Next time...

Frank,
Nice one! Love F cameras with standard prisms. Say, did you get the black FT3 posted here about 10 days ago? I thought about it and asked the seller for pictures but none came to me. I thought it would make a nice addition to my chrome FT3, red dot F, and other chrome F. Enjoy, Bob

...on its way to me by mail. This F has a Nikkor-S lens. Last week I bought a black Nikkormat FT3 with 50f2 Nikkor HC.
I'm going to delete the ebay link in my favourites list now.

Er, shouldn't ask but... how much does a black F with the standard prism fetch these days??

Bob: Got the FT3 with 50f2 HC for $100 on ebay auction, only bidder.
Paul: The F body and 1.2 lens went for $360, best offer route on ebay.

Nikon F2AS with 55/1.2 AI Nikkor, wide-open.
When Donuts scream "Ouch".
Christmas, 55/1.2 AI Nikkor, wide-open.
Focus on the hand holding the doll. Sometimes its nice not being limited to an RF patch for focus.

FrankS - If everything is working properly you got it for a fantastic price. I was eyeing a black F with standard prism for a while but they seem to go for $400-750 on evilbay. I know one that is selling locally here in Toronto (in excellent condition) but asking $650-700.
I was jonesing for a 50/1.4 ZF planar but couldn't justify it considering how often I use SLRs, however I found a nice 50/1.4 SMC Takumar (same optical formula as the Zeiss planar) and Spotmatic F to keep it company. The M42 SMC Takumar lenses are one of the best deals out there. All metal, beautifully crafted, very compact (for a SLR lens) and optically and mechanically awesome) and extremely cheap. The kit below cost me less than $100.

Shooter of Film...
All right...let's keep it quiet on the Takumar 50mm 1.4...that's the next lens I'm trying to hunt down...if all goes well I should have one within the next month or two...
After that I'm going for the Takumar 35mm 3.5...both in the M42 mount...

My chrome, plain-prism Nikon F is one of the few SLRs' I still use. That and my old Canon F-1.

that is a beautiful black F...just got a chrome body plain prism but like you, there is something about those black bodies - harder to find in as nice of shape as yours.

Nice, but I'm partial to Canon FD stuff. I have a pair or A-1s, and an AE-1. Would love to add an F-1, but I'm more digital than film these days.
You did an excellent classic there though. use it well..

The most evil of Classic SLRs: Nikon F with an original, fully functional F36 motor and battery pack. One of the sweetest cameras I've ever had the pleasure of using! It's amazing how well the motor works, and how diligently it chugs through frames without a hitch. I can see why Nikon was so successful in the 60s. It almost makes you feel like you could handle any assignment with this old motor!

I have one much like that, but have a RemoPak for the motor.
