At the cafe this morning with my friends for breakfast... A guy walks in with a Leica III (f or c most likely), with a Voigtländer meter in the accessory show and a wrist strap on, in his hand. First time I've seen one "in the wild, on the streets" in quite a long time!

Pretty things they are. 🙂

I still remember how I spotted T, VM lens and Viogtlander VF in cafe while walking to old location of Stephen Bulger Gallery in Toronto.
I went in to say hello.

living in a big city as London, i constantly see film cameras. may be not all the time Leica (there are quite a lot) but young ppl use a lot of Canon AE1, Nikon FE, Minolta SLRs around. i'm one of those shy ppl so i get interrupted by others rather than other way around. A nice old man stopped me when i was using my M6 and talked about his film journey and wish he could have time to come back to it. he now owns a Leica Q since it fits his style.

I keep seeing Canon AE-1's being carried by young folks when I'm out shooting in Chicago. And did see one guy, older guy like myself, with a Leica Monochrom (2nd edition). But those Canons are pretty much the only film cameras I regularly see "out in the wild".

Usually I'm either shooting digital for work, or shooting my Nikon S2 or Leica IIIc. So if folks see me shooting in Chicago, they could say they've seen those cameras "out in the wild".

I used my IIIf last week when I finished off a 36 frame roll of Acros 100. It was fun using it but it does slow you down. I used three lenses this last roll: 35mm, 50mm, 90mm. I also use a Leitz adjustable finder in the shoe. This makes me take the V-Meter II out of the shoe. Still it was a hoot using it for the first time in six months.

Seen Leica M4, Minolta CLE in the wild. Been asked about the KIEV-4A that I once carried.

When I use my Super Nettel out in the wild it gets some interesting looks. I've had one person know what it was when looking at it which was pretty cool.

I didn't get out to shoot this weekend but I ran into a QL17 on friday walking home, and driving on sunday drove past someone with an LTM. I recognized the hood on the lens but was too far to judge what body it was mounted too.

Overall though I run in to a lot of M6s, some M2s and M3s. Good bunch of Leica digital. Lots of 70's and 80's SLRs. Recently been seeing more 90s film slrs though. People mounting their digital lenses on old af bodies.

Film is very much alive in toronto.

Love that meter, so easy to use. Someone here gave me a lanyard for it or I shoe it.

I hope it is changed for better! Last time I was in and out near Union in February.
Spotted two young guys with film cameras, run across the street and they showed me two multi-lens cameras from pre-Lomography era.
