It seems like quite a few nice 35mm film cameras in the classifieds right now but they do not seem to be selling, mine included. Is it just my natural impatience? Some of the listings are 2-3 weeks or more old.
Could the M9 be creating a sense of foreboding for film users or is it just the economy?

Economy and probably also if you fall off the front page, many fewer people see your ad.

I asked this before but don't remember if I got a response--how do you bump your adds like you can on other sites? That would be nice to bring back some of those "lost" adds.

Lot's of folks going digital, if only with G1 and EP-1's. I'm also seeing more folks interested in D700's and such. Could have an impact. Very nice M4, but the way.

Patience my friend! These things go in waves. In a few months M4 fever will strike and everyone will have to have one - especially when some people realize the GF-1 or whatever is not the magic bullet they were hoping for.
It's priced very well and it will sell for that price. In fact, you can probably get more money selling on your local craigslist but it's nice of you to offer it here first.

Nice film stuff at the two local camera shops I use seems to be hanging around in the showcase longer, and selling for 10-20% less than a year or two ago. Stuff in not-so-nice condition has to be kind of special to move.

could be that some folks are more hopeful about getting a used drf these days.
I'm fairly saturated on buying Film Cameras.
Lenses are moving quickly. A lot of these lenses are ending up on DRF's.
I can see a Leica M8 in my future. Makes it easier for testing lenses and getting them onto my film cameras faster.

I don't see how the M9 could create any sense of forboding for film users ... I doubt that Leica can sell as many M9's in a year as Nikon sell D90's in a month.

Yeah... things tend to come and go in waves... buying and selling. Sometimes there's so many good deals up that I have to restrain myself... and sometimes there's nothing good (or at least nothing cheap) for weeks. Sometimes things just fly out of the classifieds and sometimes they stew there for weeks. I've stopped trying to find a pattern
But yes... I think a lot of people are either saving for an M9 or salivating at the chance to grab a cheap M8 or RD from someone who is. And I think a lot of people are just holding their breath to see where the chips fall. Sometimes when new technology like this comes out... about 3 months later a major flaw is found, or it's just not as good as people thought and there's a mass exodus back to the "old standard"... This happened with the Canon 1DMkIII and the 50D to some extent... people are getting cautious.

The most desirable item I've seen in the classifieds of late was the UC 35mm Hexanon that disappeared fairly quickly the other day.

Is it just me or this superbly dry humor?
Anyway, I think it's always pretty much true that lenses hold value better than cameras, reflecting their respectively greater contribution to image quality.
