Tom-

As much as I love D76(R) or 1:1... I believe that Clayton's F76+ is just easier to use with more consistent results unlike D76... I have only used @ 1+9 dilution and the results are just stunning with pretty much any B&W traditional emulsion... when mated with leitz/leica lenses, an "M" RF body and Kodak's TMY-2 rated normal it comes close to a spritual experience!

Have you, or any other members of RFF used this terrific soup? In addition, once opened it stays for months... I had a 1/4 of the bottle left, (US Quart) and that sat for 2 months but it was perfect, (as always)... It is in liquid form and it is quick, clean and beautiful... I have posted some images for all you and your readers reviews...

The image of the Metro Rail is an M4, 50mm Summicron f2.0v.5, TMY-2, with Clayton F76+ @ 1+9 @ 68F/20C
The Ducati Image is a MP, (Current), the 35mm Lux. f1.4asph.v2, Fuji Neopan 400 with Clayton F76+ @1+9 @ 68F/20C

That was what I used before Rodinal.
A really consistent and convenient developer.

Thank's. You just confirm my opinion. I am using now old (from early 80's, $4.99 then) Edwal FG and is superior to D76 in every department. Now I will try Clyton.
From this small pictures we can post here is hard to say, how is the acutance of TMY in this soup ? D76 simply sucks.

the acutance is silky smooth... just enough, but not too much... just like black velvet, smooth... textured whites and blacks nice gradation...

Thank you. Sounds promising. My measuring stick is development in Beutler, but as it works with TMX well, with TMY does not (or I am doing it wrong). And silky smooth is what I want. Also will be interesting how well it will work with Eastman Double X, which became my dominant film lately.

I tried the Clayton and it is a very good substitute for the D76. My only problem is that it has a short shelf life. After a couple of weeks it started to go bad on me. The bottle had been opened by the previous user and s small amount used. I got it and started to use it and it took only a couple of runs to have it slow down. When I find some more I will try it again. In the meantime I am sticlking with either D76 or my Adox MQ home brew.
